Ok so Morey issued his statement along with the Commish...

Some serious questions for people in China...

Have the Rockets been unbanned from the CBA?
Have people stopped burning our jerseys ?
What’s the latest instructions from the state media ?

Any insights would be helpful, I tried googling in search of the answers but everything seems to be censored for some reason

Actually by a KD, I mean he tweets something anti-HK and pro CCP. But I doubt Daryl's not gonna do that. An apology to go back to neutral is what he probably wants.

I'm fine with Chinese mainland fans not being fans of the Rockets. Gladly sacrifice that to keep DM.

Morey could/should have elaborated on the following, if he wanted to save his butt:
    • why he cared about the matter (friends in HK), how the raging violence has been concerning him etc.
    • A brief mentioning of how he recognizes the protesters carry the majority of violence output would definitely help.
    • What did he mean exactly by "stand with HK" - e.g. stop violence, resume to the city's peaceful and prosperous days etc
    • Explicitly say "I am sorry for hurting your feelings" - like the NBA communication director has said
Unfortunately, the statement he has given feels very defensive and somehow arrogant.
My interpretation is that Dmorey is in an emotionally heightened stage, facing the last days as Rockets GM. So he was indeed defensive as he wrote those tweets.

Oh to answer your original question: No, if anything I think his statement has made it worse for the Rockets and himself, for now.
But it also made it easier for Rockets to cut ties with him.

I am a Chinese fan. I can tell you something.

Because of Morey's move, any information of the Rockets has been erased in China.

In addition, Adam and Silva did not seem to attach importance to this matter, which disappointed us.

The nature of the matter has become somewhat serious. Basketball is basketball, but Daryl mixes it with political factors and crosses the line, which is a particularly bad move.

It’s too bad that you follow an AMERICAN basketball league where people have the RIGHT to free speech.

I see many of you are attacking communism, and I seem to have some understanding and some misunderstanding.

The system of China and the United States is not the same. Any system has its advantages and disadvantages. In the eyes of most of you, we Chinese seem to have become stupid machines without thinking in the Communist system. I don't know whether to cry or laugh.. The fact is, under this system, our life is generally good. Even if the gateway supervisor has set up a "wall", I can still communicate and interact with you here.

Do you still think that China is almost the same as North Korea now?
Living like a puppet under the Communist system?

Taiwan is a part of Chinese territory, capitalism or communism. Our policy is "one country, two systems".

    Uygur ? I think it's okay.

There seems to be no news in this area in the recent period...
