People belittle UT but what are you doing where you live?

Utah is an extremely beautiful state, for the most part. I can certainly see why someone would want to live there (I wouldn't because I don't like to leave Texas, but that's just me. Give me flat, dusty and treeless any day) and enjoy living there.

What I know about Utah, I know mostly from what Clutch has said about it. He too used to live there and I can remember him describing as where he lived as Hell, Utah. But of course I'm sure he did it out of pure fun. Unlike Dennis Rodman, I honestly don't have an opinion about Utah or it's citizens. However, I do reserve the right to make fun of the Jazz in any manner possible. They are my mortal enemy, it the calling of all Rockets fans to make fun of the Jazz.

Just for the record, I visited Utah for a business trip a few months ago and the people, the city, and the area were all beautiful. It's a quiet town with incredibly wide streets. I think I was told the joke that the streets were so wide because Brigham Young wanted to walk down the streets with all his wives on each arm. Haha.

Anyway, nothing in Houston or in the DFW area can compare to the beauty there. I loved the visit and loved the people who were all pretty nice to me.

Achebe--glad to see it's not just me who gets those questions when travelling--gotta relate a short story.

On a recent trip to London, I was flying out of Cincinnati next to a middle-aged gentleman with a fondness for stewardesses and wine (ESPECIALLY wine).

I think he got a little offended because I don't drink because of my religious membership in the LDS church. He asked me why I didn't drink, not knowing I was from Utah. I told him, and he said "Mormons? You people make me sick."

I've heard such from many, but I'm always curious to see what people are saying now. I asked him why, and he told me without cracking a grin "The way you people run around your temples naked makes me sick."

Needless to say, this is not true, but probably would raise temple attendance (or lower it, depending on who lives in your neighborhood...)

Utah is beautiful, and as far as the outdoors are considered, I've yet to find anyplace better--but there's no doubt that we have more than our share of crazy people, which reflects rather strongly on the entire population.
