They should just let it go, we have a lot more pressing needs than this...though I don't condone what he did, there is just no need to persue it from the USA's standpoint.

Message sent. If you run long enough and have enough money . . . catching you is just not worth it.

It's over. He's basically stuck there for the rest of his life. It's not justice, but it's done. He got away with raping a 13 year old girl and won't have face justice for that.

People get away with stuff, at some point, there's nothing anyone can do. it's over.

He already did his time, was released and the judge had 2nd thoughts......

I am more about common sense.....and proper allocation of limited resources.

What do we have to do that's more pressing than the just application of the law, seeing as the administration of justice is secondary only to maybe national defense as a purpose for government? Why do I give so much of my income to the government if they can't even perform their primary functions? Their failure to deliver justice ('they' being the Swiss this time, since the US tried to do the right thing here) casts another little shadow on the legitimacy of government, in general.

Most decisions that involve this sort of thing have to be done by third parties because emotions/bias get in the way of things. The world is a dark, cruel, and unfair place. I wish justice had been served but for the few years I've been in the legal field that is just wishful thinking.

So the age of consent is 13
    or
is it only 13 if you can get the consent 30+ years later

OJ is in prison for something totally unrelated, and OJ's situation has no bearing on the discussion in this thread.

Was it your daughter? If not then we both have the same stake in this....the victim said let it go.....I am inclined to side with her.

Because she was paid off and her family years ago. They obviously do not want to open closed wounds. Doesn't mean they are right by wanting to let it go, but I can understand why she wants to let it go. Just like many woman who get raped decide never to tell anyone cause they just want to forget. He could be still doing the same for all we know.

I don't disagree. Lady Justice can bought just like a cheap hooker. That's the golden rule.

....like maybe to enforce the law?

You didn't answer my question....... Would you say that if it was your daughter he drugged & sodomized?

    What he did was wrong.

The American Justice system is a utter pos. It puts a kid in jail for getting a blow job and lets people with money who commit murder. Why waste resources when the victim doesn't care at this point.

There are also people who are saying Polanski shouldn't go free. Are you sure the people saying "let him go" are the same ones saying Mike Vick should continue to pay for his crime?
