Dave seems to be a real fan of Pearl Jam because there has never been a concert at the Ed Sullivan Theater since the Late Show started using it.

    Thursday May 5th.

Exclusive Concert to be Webcast Live from the Ed Sullivan Theater

Get a front-row seat to an exclusive, live-on-the-web concert event featuring Pearl Jam.

It all begins with Pearl Jam taping their performance on LATE SHOW for broadcast later that evening. Then, immediately following the show taping, Pearl Jam will take the stage again to perform a special concert featuring some of the group's favorite hits as well as never-before-heard cuts from their new CD, "Pearl Jam" (pre-order the CD at www.pearljam.com/goods).

    To watch the concert live:
    Log on to www.cbs.com/lateshow
    Date: Thursday, May 4
    Time: 5:55PM ET/2:55PM PT (approximately)

Then be sure to tune into the LATE SHOW at 11:30PM ET/PT to catch their regularly scheduled appearance with Dave (along with Julia Roberts).

If I remember their schedule correctly, they are performing a concert for the BBC in London either the day before or the day after the Letterman show.

    Far out PJ rule

there new album dropped here april 29
i noticed it didnt go on sale til may 2 in the USA

    bit strange that

anyway ive listened to it right thru once and its good

im not one of these crying fans who crap on about PJ lost it after their first 2 albums...

these people need to understand that Eddie and the crew wanted it that way. Vedder particularly was determined to do things his own way. It wasnt about appeasing Generation X with their goldfish attention spans. It's always been about making music and evolving their diverse musical talents.

the true fans stay :) on.

I got my copy of the CD from the 10 Club on Saurday and it is a damn fine album. It's packaged like a book a la Vitalogy, but with a harder cover. The artwork is, uh, interesting... Favorite tracks so far are Army Reserve, Unemployable, and Marker. But I think 10 out of the 13 are great songs.

The whole South is getting overlooked thus far with tourstops. IMO they won't be in Houston until next year, beacuse rumor has them going to Australia after NA and Europe, but I hope I'm wrong and they squeeze us in. I'm too broke to travel this year.

the last pearl jam album i remember buying and really listening to was vitalogy so i have no idea why i decided to get their new one today but i figured what the hell.

anyways this album is freaking amazing. there's only a couple songs that don't do anything for me but that's not too shabby considering a lot of cd's these days. i LOVE army reserve and marker in the sand.... what's the first single off this album?

You know, listening to this album and going over the previous records, does anybody really still think of them as a grunge band? I mean, even on 10, the music they made is pretty different from what people would call grunge.

Reading that article where he talked about how he recorded Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town reminded me about how that was one of my favorite songs of theirs and how I hadn't listened to it lately. I then got the bright idea of looking for a live video on you tube and all I could find was this guy on a spanish talk show, maybe he's an actor, playing the song. He's pretty good.

The Rolling Stone review of the newest album actually talks about that. They argue that they were never really a grunge band, more of a "classic rock" band in the mold of Zeppelin and The Who.

    My favorite Pearl Jam song.

The first five songs (the only five I've listened to so far) are freaking great.

earlier in there career, Eddie was quite vocal in his interviews in distancing PJ from the grunge scene. He considered there music more punk than anything.

the music these days leans more towards the melodious, other times more like dirty rock. Slow songs, fast songs they can do it all. Mark of a great band.

Pearl Jam, Tool and the Red Hot Chili Peppers all releasing albums within a week of each other. It's nice to see a much needed shot injected into Alternative/Rock scene.

I've been rotating between this and the new Chili Peppers album that leaked a few days ago. It's a nice return to form for the guys. "Riot Act" only sold a little over 300,000 copies in 2002. Already, this release is on pace to sell that in it's first week. Welcome back to the mainstream Pearl Jam.

Pearl Jam releases video under Creative Commons license

    May 19, 2006 4:37 PM PDT

In its latest bid to show its progressive side, popular band Pearl Jam has just released its latest music video, "Life Wasted," under a Creative Commons license.

That means, according to Creative Commons creative director Eric Steuer, that anyone will be able to "legally copy, distribute and share the clip" for noncommercial purposes.

Steuer thinks that this is the first music video from a major record label to be so licensed. But either way, it's a great step forward for those who believe that content can be both protected and shared, something the record companies and the movie studios usually don't seem to believe.
