I just recently ran the recovery disk, and the microphones in my speakers no longer work. Is that the PCI multimedia device? Anyway, my computer (Windows 98, SE) tried seaching for a driver, and couldn't find one. Does anyone know where I can find the appropriate driver? Thanks.
Do you know exactly what the device is called? or who ,makes it? is it an onboard audio card? what brand and model of computer is it?
That's the name that's listed in the device manager. I don't know anything about audio cards, I suppose it is. The brand is HP Pavilion, got it in 2000.
Uninstall your soundcard, turn off your computer completely, and then restart. Computer should detect the device.
You can try looking here for the model number of you PC http://productfinder.support.hp.com/tps/ProductFinder?h_lang=en&h_tool=software&h_query=pavillion Find your model number then look for the sound drivers for you machine. If that doesn't work look in the device driver section and see what other multimedia devices are listed. The type of sound card you have may be listed there as the audio device. If it is then you can search the manufacturers website for the drivers you need. CK
Castor got it.. if you go to http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/eng/software_drivers.htm and punch in your model...ie..Pavilion xxx...it will bring up a list of the available drivers. or go to the link Castor provided and scroll thru the list for your model.. either way.. you can get the newest drivers HP has for your machine..and then use the "update drivers" function in the properties tab of the "PCI multimedia device" listing in Device manager..
unless it is onboard, which is normally the case with HP, Dell, Gateway, Compaq... and some older cards.. but a good resource for most newer cards..
