I don't know if this has been brought up or discussed already, I'm pretty new to the site.

A David Aldridge article brought up a scary thought. Heres a little plagiarism from the article:

"He (Payton) ticks the names off for you. Portland. Sacramento. The Lakers. Any Western Conference contender will do... (blah blah) ... So he'll be happy to go to Sacramento, but only if Chris Webber is there. And Payton thinks Webber would stay there if he knew Payton was coming."

It seems to me that Payton being unhappy in Seattle may hurt a long-time rival of his, the Rockets. Does this situation bother anyone else besides myself?

The Sonics are pretty set on sending him east, regardless of whatever Payton wants.

You guys may be right about the Sonics' intentions, but please don't compare Jason Williams, Darrick Martin, Bobby Jackson, and/or Jon Barry to Gary Payton.

What if they send Jason Williams, another player (maybe Nick Anderson, Christie, or Pollard), and a pick. Are there any deals that work capwise??

    Maybe I'm smokin'

Like-wise, please don't compare Darrick Martin, Bobby Jackson, and/or Jon Barry to Jason Williams.

I was never comparing those scrubs to Jason Williams. My point is that Sacramento will not pass on Payton if they have the opportunity to get him, and keep Webber at the same time. The thought just frightens me, because I know theres a better-fitting #4 jersey waiting in Houston.

JW is a good player, but its inevitable that within 3 years, he will be the 2nd best NBA PG with that name.

Bobby Jackson is at least equal to Jason Williams, if not slightly better. I don't like the way Williams plays and if Sacramento really wants to be considerated as a contender they need to get a point who can shoot.

I could see a Payton for Webber trade before I could see both of them on the same team. That deal just doesn't make sense for Seattle. Face it, Seattle ain't in an accomodating mood with regards to Payton.

I was on a Kings board and I saw them talking about trading for Payton. They like JWilliams/Divac for Payton. They had the RealGM numbers and it worked out. If Seattle has to lose him, why would they pass on this deal?

I think Webber and Payton would be a deadly combo and Webber would think twice about it before deciding his fate in Sacramento.

I hope this doesn't happen and we can have a sick combo for years and years.

    "The 345 combo"
    #3 Francis, #4 Webber, #5 Mobley

Seattle would pass on this deal because they could get a better offer of Cassell/Thomas from Milwaukee.

There is no way the Sonics are going to deal Payton within the same division unless they get something they cant refuse. An Eastern Conference team like the Knicks can very easily put a much better package on the table than what is being discussed here. The Sonics will want young talent and picks b/c they would be in a re-building mode with the loss of Payton. Thus, they are not going to take an aging center like Vlade Divac with a hefty contract in a deal; Kings fans are just dreaming if they think that deal will happen. I could very well see the Knicks put out a bid of Allan Houston plus in attempts to reel in the Glove.

Would Alan Houston do a sign-n-trade this summer to a Gloveless Seattle?
