My god, I know we're in a new era now. I know we've honored dream. But if you ever needed a reminder of the Dream... I freaking got teary eyed watching this video, and the first chance I had to see such beauty was when Dream was destroying Charles during the championship years. The horror that millions, maybe hundreds of millions now, will gloss over Dream's career as some footnote. The thought that the Rockets would be able to follow up the era of Dream with the era of Yao is humbling. We're the luckiest fans ever.
god I know rezdawg. I just had to send that clip to a friend who's a Jazz fan. hopefully he doesn't retaliate by sending me clips of Mr. short-shorts doing the karate chop while sporting a bobby brown fade.
i was watching him the other day against san antonio in the 95 WCF on ESPN Classic...what's amazing is how much we took him for granted..you just came to expect 30+ points night in and night out in the playoffs...and he consistently delivered. when you don't know the outcome of the game, you're often so into it that you miss the aesthetic qualities of his game...but to watch now, when you already know the outcome, allows you to just watch him and appreciate. made me kind of sad watching, because i don't think there will ever be another like him.
Can someone save that video and host it? I would like to download it and save it on my computer. Pleaseeeee.....
Notice how he quickly he starts his move after he gets the ball? Amazing, he had no problem whatsoever creating a shot for himself! Plus it makes the whole offense more efficient if he makes quick moves, he doesn't waste time off the clock holding the ball. This is what Yao needs to do. If there is no double team, he has to make his move right away.
The guy who came before Dream wasn't exactly chopped liver. We have truely seen the best centers in the league, and most from the very start. Unlike Pippen, Barkley, Drexler, Waren Moon and Gordie Howe, we saw / will see these three greats grow up and mature into greatness. How unique.
"Robinson is saying: What Must I Do?" When I heard the commentator say that....MAN..... How can I download this video?
You know, I'm one of the biggest Yao fans out there... But common.... COMMON... LOL...Better than Hakeem? hahaha....
i never saw the games in the championship years, just some clips. But damn how unbelievble. He really destroyed Robinson didn't he. Great what a moves.
I'm confused...who said Yao would be better than Dream? I could watch that clip of Hakeem blocking Kevin Johnson all day. My god, I forget sometimes how amazing this guy was. We are truly lucky to have had him for <strike>all</strike> most of his career.
Great video. How easy was it to take Olajuwon's skills and greatness for granted. His low post game was so consistant every night...you never knew how much you missed his impact until he was gone! Hopefully a new era with Yao Ming will rekindle that powerful low post game we used to have! Chris
The best part of the whole video is that if pay close attention you can see the exact moment David Robinsons manhood gets stripped away by Dream. I't so poetically beautiful...I'm getting misty eyed.
in other news, Stevie is being talked about on Around The Horn. The Dream was the greatest...what a good dream it was.
How lucky are we to have witnessed probably the quickest player to ever play the Center position. And now we get to watch one of the tallest blossom. Thank you GOD, for being a Rockets fan !!! DaDakota
The Dream was amazing... ... but pardon me for being blasphmous, but is it so hard to hope that Yao could one day match his performance? This is far from a prediction, and I doubt Yao would even say such a thing to his closest friends... ... but as long as we're in the beginning days of his Dynasty, let's at least leave our minds open to the possibility. This can't be considered a competition (you just don't compete with greatness at that level), but let's consider it at least a challenge.
Great Video. I think that is what they played at Compaq the night they retired his jersey. A great video that you can buy of Hakeem is called "Hakeem the Dream", it chronicles his entire career up to the point of the two championships. I watched this after they retired his number and was amazed by what I saw, I had forgotten how quick and athletic Hakeem was. Rockets fans are truly lucky to have Hakeem and now Yao.
They showed that at halftime in a game didn't they? I remember seeing Dream highlights at the game before his retirement, I suppose this was it. WOW!!! "Olajuwon has David Robinson just . . . bamboozled!" Makes me even more anxious for my Clutch city and Double Clutch videos to come in the mail . . .
