Thursday ESPN reported that Paul Pierce could be on the block. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=may_peter&id=1836419 An interesting move for the ROX would be - MoTaylor and Pike plus a future draft pick/TE for Pierce. Boston might be interest as Pike is the type of player Angie likes, MoTaylor would be an allstar in the East and the TE could be used by Boston to pick up someone else. That would give Houston the following lineup: Lue/Wilks TMac/JJ/Griffin Pierce/JJ/Boki Howard/Spoon Yao/Free Agent Offensively... you would have a pretty awesome team. Defensively... ugh. And out depth second team (outside of JJ) would be a bit weak. But it would be nice to surround Yao with such a collection of shooters and scorers. If this has been talked about in a different post... sorry. Just a bit of sunday night dreaming.
That would leave Howard and Spoon as our only 4s... Kinda hard to get away with that in the West... But then again you probably outside everyteam everynight, then again I dont think JVG would stand for that
You have to be joking. Even if you aren't, the TE can't be packaged with another player to make salaries match. Even Danny Ainge isn't this dumb.
we dont need another superstar. personally if there arent any good FA left i would just sit tight. i want to see yao talk more shots and develope his game. with too much talent you may stunt his growth. he has to learn how to be THE man, even if we have Tmac.
The East isn't THAT bad. I seriously doubt that Taylor would be an All-Star in the East ... and I doubt they'd consider him on Pierce's level in trade. But, if they did, I'd love to do that deal.
Danny Ainge may be the worst GM in the business but he has stated time and time again that Pierce wont be moved and highly doubt Pike and Mo friggin Taylor would be enough for him to even look twice at.
Pass... what the hell has Paul Pierce ever done, besides not improving his game ONE BIT since his rookie year.
What? Let's compare career numbers: .................FG FT 3P STL BLK REB AST PTS McGrady .447 .756 1.1 1.32 1.17 6.4 4.1 21.4 Pierce .432 .789 1.7 1.79 .86 6.5 3.6 23.2 I am not saying that Pierce is a better player than McGrady... but do not say "what the hell has Pierce done".
We already got Yao and TMac to take majority of the shots so don't expect Pierce to be role player. Pierce will not like playing behind Yao or TMac.
I expected every single responses for this thread to be bashing the original poster for making up such an idiotic trade. And instead, amazingly about half the posts are saying how we shouldn't make such a deal!!!??? Paul Pierce is only one of the best SG in the NBA. The guy is a great outside shooter, and would fit the team perfectly. In fact, he can basically do everything JJ does, do them BETTER, and do more, and is younger. If we could manage to pull of this trade, Danny Ainge should get fired immediately, and the Rockets would instantly become one of the top 3 teams in the NBA.
If Rockets can do this trade, they will be an instant favorite to win the title for the next 5-7 years. Yao Howard PP Tmac Fisher You cannot beat that luxury lineup (with 3 top 12 players in their prime) even in today's NBA.
Just when i thought that the basketball IQ level had dropped to an all time low (when I saw the original post) - someone comes in and makes the original poster look like Red Aurbach IF danny boy WERE dumb enough to do this offer.... you take that deal 10 times out of 10... who cares about depth at that position... your backup 4 and a garbage 3 that never played... for a top 30 player ...and you would pass ??!?!?!
