Why did Michelle Obama not travel to New York to pay her respects to the 3,000+ that died on September 11, 2001? Was it just not worth her time? The kids/school story just doesn't fly. School started on Monday. She was campaigning earlier this week. Considering that her fellow parishioners (and her?) were sitting in church listening to Jeremiah Wright tell us that America was at fault for 9-11 just five days after the Towers fell, this in no way surprises me. It's just disgusting that if Obama were elected, she would have a place in the White House. Totally disgusting.

Why Wasn't Michelle Obama at the 9/11 Ceremony?
    September 11, 2008 6:58 PM

Some readers have asked me why it was that Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., was without spouse at the 9/11 commemoration ceremony today in New York City.

After all, they point out, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., was accompanied by his wife Cindy.

    Where was Michelle?

The Obama campaign responds that Michelle was back in Chicago with her daughters Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7, since this is the first week of school.

The McCain kids, incidentally, have all graduated from high school (some long ago) with the exception of Bridget, who's 16.

    - jpt

UPDATE: As has been pointed out elsewhere, Michelle Obama did do some campaigning this week, in Indiana and Ohio. How does that fit in with the campaign's explanation that she was too busy to attend the 9/11 ceremony because this was Sasha and Malia's first week of school? I asked the campaign and will get back to you when and if it responds.

Taking care of her kids.....like a quality mother should.

Meanwhile up in Alaska, Todd's attempt at hooking up a suction hose to his snowmobile machine and attaching it to his nipples, is still not producing milk.

    ;)

Did you go to the 9/11 crash site? Theres other ways to be in rememberance of the event other than actually showing up

Honestly, we know that these candidates most likley have good intentions to lead the nation, but its obvious that showing up to the 9/11 site was a way to gain publicity and show that they are "patriotic"...

Your words my friend, your words.

I do think any parent's first responsibility is to their children, don't you?

I would question both the father and mother and either of their abilities to be VP when they have a new born child with down syndrome.

I believe it will take two dedicated parents to deal with those challenges that lie ahead.

Obviously they disagree, hopefully their kids don't suffer because of their lack of attention.

Not like I am condemning her or agreeing with this post...............but, you obviously did not read it if that was your response, because it says she was campaigning earlier this week.........

    That is absolutely atrocious..........

So if you have a baby with a condition, neither of the parents should work, instead both stay home and take care of the kid.

What kind of world do you live in, where that is possible?

This board continues to hit new lows........

Ugh....I think that the kids come first....PERIOD.......and that they are first priority.

And special needs kids, need special attention, especially new born.....

For me, it is the newborn thing I have a problem with........

If you have kids, you would understand.

And the VP job will require tons of time away from the kids....sorry, if I had a newborn, I would not accept a VP nomination.....

Exactly...using the same flawed logic...All women get your arse home if you have children, whether you be in any professional field...whether you are in the senate, a teacher, nurse...Any senators with children? Get home NOW!...and make DaDakota a sandwiche while you are it...!!!!

If this is the message from the left,...I welcome that as their folly....

Funny, how the republicans - the alleged champions of family values, fail to hold those alleged standards up for their own candidates.

Repubs....WAH...WAH...WAH.....leave Ms Palin alone...she is an excellent mother....

First off, I am not a republican...

Second, how in the world can you say she lacks family values by working while her husband stays with the kids....

I understand you don't like her, but trying to say she has no family values and a terrible mother is just plain wrong........

You might want to check yourself in the mirror first before condemning others ....skip that, your perfect.....

To think that Jeremiah Wright was whipping his Trinity United crowd into a frenzy by RAILING on the United States, literally just hours after the attacks is totally disgusting. Do you remember the mood in the hours after 9-11? Somber. Patriotic. Grieving. The mood inside of Trinity Church? Wild celebration, laughter, mocking. How can we elect a President who willingly participated in that circus atmosphere for 20 years? Someone please answer me that.

Obviously in the same way TJ has implied Michelle Obama isnt patriotic because she didnt show up to a 9/11 event to help her husband get political kudos points
