So Ewing and Dwight Howard sat with John Thompson for an interview the other day on TNT. And when asked to compare Dwight to other great centers, Ewwing said that he sees a lot of "Hakeem" in him, and said that he thinks he can be "better than Hakeem" and went on to list pretty much every other center but himself (including Russell and Wilt, which tells you he was definitely high). So yeah, he's apparently still around, still hopelessly waiting for the Knicks to offer him the coaching job, but my sources will only confirm that he's being offered a job as a sit-in for Spike Lee.
Ewing has basically broken the Big Man Pecking Code, Ordinance 2258 which is a supplement to 2257... which means no big man below the list can compare a big man that is above the list and is a top 5 GOAT at that position to a big man that hasn't arrived yet.
That Shaq quote was classic, I don't care what anyone says. Besides, it comes in handy when mere mortals step out of line and need a taze here and there...
The only uncertainty yet to be determined on Ewing is if he's dumber than he is ugly or vice versa...
Dwight has only had to play one "great" center (offense/defense) in his career (TD is a PF, Amare is ridicoulously bad at defense)...Yao. Head-to-head wise he fails at being better then Yao...by a long shot. So to claim he can be better then 100-point Wilt...
Dwight Howard is neither the best offensive center (Yao) nor the best defensive center (Okafor) in the league. In an era with much better centers, Hakeem was both.
That is the worst comparison for Dwight Howard. Hakeem had an amazing offensive arsenal. His footwork alone separates him light years from Howard. Howard is like a more nimble, athletic, and motivated Daryl Dawkins. That's IT. Period. Chocolate Thunder, Part II.
Ewing is an idiot, sure, but I still can't agree with this comment. Howard is a better rebounder, and that's about it at this point.
They used to need extra towel boys to clean up the oceans of sweat that seeped out of that big, overrated goon. Maybe he still has sweat in his eyes when he is watching Howard play. No way is Dwight Howard anywhere near as good as Olajuwon, and he never will be. Howard is big and athletic. So was Olajuwon. The enormous difference between these two is talent. There are plenty of big guys out there but few, if any, had Hakeem's talent.
