I'm looking to build a custom deck in my backyard. I have the dimensional drawing for a potential contractor to reference.

How much do decks/patios usually cost in total to build? I'm open to anything: contractors, pros, and "cheap labor."

Any references would be greatly appreciated. The deck would be about 1300 sq.ft

    Thanks in advance!

1300 ft2 means you have a huge range of possible prices based on materials and complexity.

Here's the drawing. I'm only looking at the deck portion along the house. The bridge, pond, and gazebo are all down the road projects.

I prefer composite wood, but any other suggestions to help drive the cost down are welcome.

We went with TCR Construction for our deck. They were the lowest bid and did a good job. See what they quote you - http://tcrconstruction.com/

I did a 1300sq. ft. deck about 3 years ago. Pretty simple design, lots of footings, treated wood, aluminum railing, hidden deck clips (no screws). Cost me about $15K, materials & labor.
