Pat Williams (Orlando Magic VP) just stated on ESPN that the talks concerning trading TMac will "continue on into July". If that's true then it's at least the middle of July before anything will happen
Damn this Magic Organisation is poor for a Reason!. fist the Had gabe running things into the Ground and now this Clown shows up!
Yea, he also said that Weisass is still talking to numerous of teams and that there is nothing resolved. Why is it that every media outlet, agent involved and player involved all say it is all but done, and Weisass and the owner are still saying it still aways off from being finished? So frustrating!!!
Look at the bright side. We don't have to use any of our T-E because SF3 will no longer have a BYC. Also, we may be able to back Cato out of the deal because, the longer Weisbrod stalls, the more other teams will be committed to other deals. Perhaps, one of the other teams will come to us with an offer we can't refuse. The Rocks could find themselves open to better deals as well (wishful thinking, I know).
I think Cato is in the deal to cover the BYC. In other words, if we wait until after July we don't have to include Cato. (I read that in one of the articles on the various elements of the trade and how the BYC affects it.)
this better get done. B/c if it drag on how are we gonna attract free agent? I think people mainly want to come here now b/c of the tmac yao combo not just yao. I really want tmac but this GM better not screw us. If he does les and CD must ruin his reputation.
Whats the real reason for the hold up? 1. Wisebrod is telling the truth and holding out for better offers. 2. The deal is done and Wisebrod is trying to play mind games. 3. The Magic are trying to get a 3rd team involved.
By waiting until July 15 we won't be missing out. Remember, there is a free agent signing / trade moratorium from July 1 to July 15.
sorry thumbs, but we will be missing out. this is the time frame that most of the politicking is done to secure what free agents you will sign after the moratorium. To be able to effectively politic, you have to know what team you are fielding and what holes you need to fill. Obviously, this trade will define the direction we are going and must be set as the priority before anything else is handled. If it moves past tomorrow w/o a trade, I think the rox need to play hardball and move to pull the deal off the table.
The moratorium is there but come July 15th many top notch FAs will be signed RIGHT AWAY! During the time from July 1st to 15th people will negotiate with those guys. If we dont have our team in place then it puts us at a disadvantage. Ditto with Orlando.
True, but people could still set up deals in theory so when the moratorium is over, they go ahead and do them, couldn't they? Or by moratorium are they saying they can't even talk about it and get deals into place? EDIT: Yeah, that's what I was thinking, Deuce.
This is seriously getting ridiculous! I cant believe how long this is taking and how much of an ass Orlando is being. I cant believe they feel comfortable about taking this into July. I think its about time McGrady steps up and says something here.
The hold-up is likely Francis' BYC status. But expect the Magic to play the next two weeks as if they are really in doubt about this deal. In the meantime, they will keep begging other teams to increase their offers for Tmac and probably work out a trade to ship Mobley (or whoever else comes in the deal) to another team. It would be nice if Weisbrod just said (to the Rockets and not neccessarily the media) "OK, OK. You got me. The deal is done. We just can't consummate the trade until the BYC issue is cleared up. In the mean time, remember that no deal is done until the ink dries." But that isn't how he does business; he has to speak out both sides of his mouth.
Orlando's front office just continues to self destruct. No GM in the league is going to want to deal with these guys. And again, where is TM. He needs to show some leadership, step up, and help move this process forward. I'm seriously starting to sour on this trade.
Tmac is likely being professional and pulling the strings behind the scenes where they should be pulled. Tmac isn't the type to do this through the media anyway and he isn't much of an outspoken leader either. Anyway, this deal is too big to back out on. The Rockets have to stick it out until Weisbrod makes a decision.
screw Orlando, we should just go else where TMac would probably be pissed off too that we went somewhere else because Weis-- whatever is a crappy gm.
