Does anybody use one? I've been using LastPass to store all my passwords, but lastpass thinks they've been hacked recently (they don't even know). Thinking about switching to a program that doesn't rely on the internet to store your pw's. Or maybe I should avoid these problems all together and just write down the login info down on a piece of paper somewhere.
http://keepass.info/ Or if you're lazy like me, save it to a txt file and don't let anyone else use your computer.
You are much more likely to get compromised through keystroke recorders than having one of these databases cracked.
Just use variations of the same password for all your stuff. That way, if it's not one of them, then it must be one of the others, which should all be easy to remember.
But these passwords apps automatically fill in your password for each site so you just go and you don't even have to think. It saves a lot of time.
Passwords are things you shouldn't let an easily "hackable" program keep for you... or transfer without an SSL cert... or copy to an app... or... oh, never mind. Seriously? You can't remember "myd0g5n4m3" or "h4ckth!5"???
I mostly stay away from anything and everything that requires a password. except for CF, and maybe gmail, and also hotmail and yahoo, and sometimes my cell, and also my debit card, and once in a while a couple social networks, and maybe a few other forums. But that's it.
i have a few i use although sometimes i forget which one is for which so i have to cycle through but it's easy.. password1, password2 or password3. You will never get my luggage combo though. Spoiler
I used to use keepass, it's free and you store it yourself. The problem is there were no browser extensions so you don't get ease of use functionality, but I think there might be some now. If you want to access it somewhere else you can store it on your Dropbox. And if you want to get more paranoid store it in a Truecrypt file first. Then you store the installers or portable versions (if they exist) of keepass and truecrypt in your dropbox as well. But yeah, I switched to Lastpass awhile ago and I'm not sure if I'll stick with it now. I made up my own formula on making passwords for any website, so I basically don't have to remember anything except the formula. It's just so convenient to have lastpass fill everything in for me instantaneously.
I use roboform. they have a mobile product that runs from a usb that you run on any machine which I keep on my keychain so I don't forget. With this, I don't have to save passwords on the internet yet they are always with me.
