    Pakistan closes newspaper for publishing head money on Americans

    Lahore, Pakistan (dpa) - A Lahore newspaper has been closed and its entire editorial staff arrested for publishing head money for American citizens, official sources said Wednesday.

    A story under the headline ``Kill one American, Get Rupees 400,000'' prompted the action against the little known newspaper Punjab Post, according to the sources in the information department of the Punjab province. At the current exchange rate that would make the reward about 6,231 dollars for each American.

    The story was based on a press release from a non-descript organisation in Pakistan's tribal territory where the threat of a U.S. attack on bordering Afghanistan has raised anti-American sentiments.

    Editor Khalid Mahmood and 15 of his staff were arrested under public safety laws.

    HDE, it sounds like it wasn't the paper offering the reward; they were merely reporting that someone else was offering it. Your thread title is slightly misleading.

    You could probably become king of that ****hole for 6200 bucks. Why not let Bill Gates just buy the whole dump and force those guys beta test new Micro Soft O.S. for all of us? That would be AMPLE punishment.

    It's always a good idea to read an article before you post about it, muchless post erroneous topics regarding it...

    Ty, that was a pretty dumb thing to say considering the fact that there are people from Pakistan on this board. You should've expected that.

    Rockets03, don't be an ass. I'm sure it pissed you off but there are more effective ways to approach something like this and cursing out Ty for something he said with tongue firmly planted in cheek is pretty stupid.

    Anyways I guess I did overreact a little bit. I aint even Pakistani! I am Indian so I do agree with his sentiment sometimes. ;) :D

    Plus no use arguing with this dork. Look at his profile and you will see what I mean. :rolleyes:

    Here, have some tikka with the chappati. BTW, if you oil the chappati and heat it on a pan, it will taste MUUUUUUCH better :)
