This is not going to be easy but.....has anyone ever thrown a party in a hotel? My sis did so on August 13th for my B-Day....in the Hyatt downtown none the less. Had a wild night...that brought the cops to the suite three times before the party shut down. Her B-Day is Sept 16...so guess who's lookin to return the favor. (for those who are not quick...ME) Does anyone know where a guy can throw a party in a Houston hotel/cabin without having the cops at the door? I'm idealy lookin for adjoined suites for more room. Dont want to do this at the house so I can avoid the long clean up afterwards. I've heard the Doubletree in the Galleria is a great place to throw a party in peace....can anyone confirm. Also will be breaking the bank at Spec's....Parrot Bay. Malibu, Smirnoff, Tanqueray (sp?), Pucker flavors, Johnny Walker, Don Julio Reposado, etc..... If any of you guys have any recommendations on alcohol, leave them here please. I want to know....i know will forget something good on my list, so I will be using any recommendations as reminders. And besides, maybe you guys know of something good that I havent tried. Let me know.... Jus lookin for ideas on where to throw this party IN HOUSTON....and have a place to stay so when were all drunk, we DONT have to drive? If you have any other wild ideas on how to do this, let me know..... Any ideas/thoughts will be much appreciated......THANKS
Just ask your sister....she obviously has the experience. I haven't done the hotel thing in about 10 years, and I prefer to stay out of things like that. It's hard to get a job with a criminal record.
NO SHE DOESNT.....she, nor the party wasnt ready when I showed up that night. They were hungry, didnt have time to eat....I had to buy pizza for them, as well as others who would soon be arriving looking for there slice of pizza too. She was upset, had decorations, never got to put them up. I had to help sneak in the alcohol....some surprise it was. But I was very appreciative of the effort and money she sacrificed to do this for me. Now, its time for me to return the favor and show her how its done. Except, I've done many house parties...but never a hotel room party...and judging from how many times the cops bothered us for her party for me, it looks like a hassle that isnt worth the time, nor the money. I'm just tryin to get a few ideas.....that's where you guys could help out big time.
I was thrown out of a suite at the Adams Mark on Westhimer near the beltway on New Years Eve one year so I'd stay away from there.
I heard Hotel Derek on Westheimer is really nice. Some friends of mine had their prom party there back in 2002, I don't remember them mentioning anything about cops. As for alchohol, I don't think you can go too wrong with what you get. I always like to go w/ Jose Quervo, JD, Crown (lot's of Crown), maybe some hennesey and hypnotic?
OMG...how could I forget the purple pouch, as well as hennesey and hypnotic. That remids me of Courvesier (sp?) See this is what I'm talkin bout....I'm goona forget things I usually remember at the bar. Thanks for the reminder. If anybody has anymore suggestions, letm drop, it will jog my memory. As for the hotel, I'm leaning on Doubletree Galleria being that a few friends have said they have thrown many parties that lasted until 5am with no uninvited cops. Once again, if anyone has any knowledge that differs from this or suggestions, let me know. Also think about a vip club section, I have the hook up at Planet Barrio (Formerly T-Town) but my sis is not feelin the spanish techno thing. She likes her rap/r&b. Also though about Shadow Bar, but there vip is not a really vip. Then there is the fact that she will only be 20, which eliminiates Opus and some others....damn what's a brotha to do?
Underage drinking and police don't mix. Stay out of public space. Serve food. Not pizza. Have a deli tray and some brown bread and mustard for impromptu sandwiches and different cheeses and crackers, and some fresh fruit. When people feel the need to eat because they have consumed too much alchohol, they need a bread filler and some protein, then something to clense the palate. Not greasy slices. Have some different bottled waters, chilled, on ice. Pellegrino, Perrier, Evian. Perhaps some non-alchohol drinks, too - a few sugar free red bull, but not too much to encourage mixing. Encourage switching water in between drinks, to slow the pace, and make it more enjoyable. Stay away from sweet mixes. That's rum, liqueurs, fruit-flavor things, sodas. People will throw up. If you have less variety, your guests will be able to decide more easily. Choose a particular drink you want to push, and offer that, then perhaps two other choices. Make it well, and have a few prepared with something to serve in. Your guests will appreciate being led, and enjoy being part of a group drinking the same thing, with little differences to spark convesation. If they insist on making their own drink... that's on them. That's just general cocktail party advice. The fun is supposed to be good conversation from your group of guests, with some more uninhibited talk encouraged by drinks and music. You should be able to segue from a good mood to anchor positive feelings and shared experiences. You don't want messy loud drunks destroying property and being disgusting.
Remember that when the booze is free, Sauza tastes just like Don Julio, especially after the fourth or fifth shot...
What you need is..... Tequila Jack Daniels Malibu Rum Crown Everclear (get a cooler and make trashcan punch for the ladies) Goldschlager 1 deck playing cards (drinking games) Be prepared to loose your deposit because someone will get sick. If someone passes out put them in the bathtub to make the cleanup easier, and be sure to take pictures of them while passed out for a good laugh the next day. Have fun.
There used to be a place called "The Carousel Motel" at the intersection of 610 and 45 in deep southeast Houston. It had a big carousel at the top of the motel. You could have a hell of a party there complete with in-house hookers, gunfire and porno. No interference from the law. Good times. Any old-timers remember this place?
Just an FYI.....Doubletree Suites is where it will go down. Its suites have more then enough room for everyone. Also have friends chipping out. One friend, who's an interior decorator and has done up some clubs here like Planet Barrio's VIP will buy all of the decorations and decorate the place for me. Me being an electrical guy, will throw in the disco lights and black lights for that club effect. Another friend who's a bartender at Swig Lounge will nab the alcohol for me. Another friend will buy the cake. That leaves me with just the music (Areslite will handle this), the food (Pasox ideas will help out), and hotel suite. Its all coming together nicely, in just one day.....cant wait to see how it turns out. Pasox, thanks for the info, I never thought about planning a party as indepth as you did. You just plain broke things down. This logic you shared will be put to use.... Real Shady, you've read my mind on these choices of alcohol. Actually forgot about Everclear and Goldschlager, glad I've goat a bartender in charge of the alcohol. For the Everclear, I think we'll put it in some "jello shots" in honor of New Orleans. And besides, this bartender friend of mine....she's (yep she) a real pro at whipping up a mean jello shot. And the deck of cards is an ingenious idea that will be put to use. To everyone, I say thanks for the help.......cheers. TE
Are your sister's girl friends going to be there? Jello Shots, my man. Those drive the chicks wild... sisters NOT included. We've had them and they're a treat, an unspillable drink, and don't take but a couple of hours to make. You need to cool them overnight, though.
You know what's best about jello shots and girls? Watching them use there tongue's to lick every last drop out of that lil cup.
