I agree with the author- the sexual preference part was probably all the guy in question. The other side effects, though... They should put this in the water in Vegas.

Parkinsons Drug May Turn You into a Gay Sex Addict

requipAnyone who has ever seen a prescription drug commercial is familiar with the laundry list of potential side effects that come at the end of every single one. Often, those potential side effects are far worse than the original problem that the drug is being used to treat—but, whatever, we’ve all got our priorities. However, when it comes to ****ty side effects, we think it’s safe to say that none are quite as ****ty as the ones that allegedly happened to Frenchman Didier Jambart when he took the drug Requip, a.k.a., ropinirole.

The 51-year-old married father of two is suing pharmaceutical drugmaker GlaxoSmithKline because he claims their drug ReQuip—which is used to treat Parkinson’s disease and Restless Legs Syndrome—turned him into “a gay sex addict.” Jambart, who took Requip from 2003-2005 to treat Parkinson’s disease, alleges that during this time he became “a compulsive gay sex addict.” Jambart says he began exposing himself on the Internet and cross-dressing, and that this behavior subsequently led him to be raped. He also claims that he developed a gambling habit, and that he attempted suicide three times after he lost his family’s savings and resorted to stealing in order to support his addiction. And you thought “anal leakage” was an unfortunate side effect.

Seriously? Since when did becoming a gay sex and gambling addict qualify as a side effect???

The craziest part about all of this is that Jambart may actually have a case. Since 2006, Requip has included warnings on its label about possible behavioral changes, including developing an urge to gamble that is difficult to control, and developing “increased sexual urges,” however, no such warnings existed when Jambart was taking the drug.

But again, we have to ask: Since when did sexual preference become a side effect??? A headache is a side effect. Dizziness is a side effect. Switching sides and batting for the other team is NOT a “side effect.” The gambling urges we can buy into, but we suspect that poor Monsieur Jambart probably spent his entire life in denial about his true sexual proclivities. Then Requip came along and simply allowed his real inner urges to take over. So, the drug turned him into a compulsive gambler. Sure, why not? But a gay sex addict? We think it’s more like, “making up for lost time.”
