I would have liked him on the Rockets, but didn't as likely. I guess I'd rather see him go overseas than sign with the Spurs. Pugs
Good for him. He went undrafted out of Arkansas and bounced around from four different teams in six seasons. The best offer he was getting this offseason was around $2M a year from the Spurs. This offer doubles that and because of the road he had to travel he deserves a decent payday.
Their is going to be a change in the cba for sure. I highly doubt that David Stern and Nba owners are going to turn a blind eye to players leaving to play over seas. No one cared when it was just scubs and over the hill players going over seas but now you have some talented guys bolting. Say what you want about Pargo but scrubs dont drop 30 points in playoff games. You have to be talented to pull that off.
better for him to go overthere than with the spurs..........i think he wouldve been a good backup point guard behing parker
A free agent is a free agent. No way would the players association agree to limit their options/income opportunities in the next CBA with some draconian/monopolistic lifetime-commitment to the NBA. Consider this akin to a market correction. The world is catching up (a little) and foreign clubs are extending themselves to nab middle-tier NBA guys to raise their profile and talent level. But they can only pay out so much to so many guys before they go into the red. Also, inserting NBA starter-level talent into foreign leagues will improve their competition and likely lead to more capable foreign exports into the NBA. Evan
I get your point, my statement was more of a reaction to what has happend in totallity this summer. Pargo him self is not that big of a deal but with more then a few quality rotaiton players leaving I think owners are going to want some kind of relief, of what kind I have no idea but Im sure they will want something.
LOL...how can the NBA stop dudes from getting as much money as they can....and why would it even be right for them to do so if they could?
Two ways to approach it: make the CBA more draconian or less draconian. You could think up some mechanism to discourage players in the league from leaving. Or you can let up on salary cap and luxury tax thresholds that reduce the amount of money being paid to players. Or you can accept that the league can't have the 500 best players in the world anymore.
