Peter Vescey's a genius. Tracy McGrady for Manu Ginoboli. How could Orlando POSSIBLY pass THAT one up???
My sources tell me Vescey might one day bring to light a rumor that could possibly come true. But to not hold my breath. Evan
Hold on, it was Vescey who reported that T-Mac was going to opt out? You can just about bank on him staying in Orlando then...
Orlando is not going to simply move McGrady for the best player offered. They know for a fact that they won't get equal value in return, and even if they do, it won't improve the team. Expect them to demand either Hill or Howard be part of the deal, and demand multiple (young) players and picks in return. Evan
Presumably he was talking about a deal including MG...or MG + cap relief? MG is well regarded around the Association, BTW, tho not in T Mac's 'league'. The T Mac questions are -- where does he want to go and what does Orlando want to do? Would one not assume thy would insist the acquiring team also take Howard's contract? Do they want to rebuild, or make an immediate run in the East?
Coach Pop (who I don't respect as much as most in the league) says he "loses a year off his life every minute ..." Ginoboli plays. Pop would be in HEAVEN if he could toss Manu + Malik Rose for someone of ANY value, let alone TMac's!
Best case for Magic will be dump GH's bad contract young star player high draft pick They will easily get two of the three, probably all three. I still think picking up TM makes the Rockets too thin. YM and TM would be great, but it would leave too many holes in our roster. Raven
no matter what happens with T-mac - look for the Magic to include (or start another deal) that invovles Howard or Gooden....
yeah but we can fill holes. we cant get a more talented player. even if we had to give up steve, cato, pike, jj, spoon for tmac, hill, lue, and both of their second rounders... we would have holes but it would look like: yao-pick mo tmac-boki-ag cat - pick lue with the MLE and the TE we could have a full rotation: yao-pick okur-mo tmac-boki-ag cat-pick barry-lue iwe dont have any real holes left in that line-up. JVG only likes to have an 8-9 man rotation.
Wouldn't it be nice to have a rotation that DIDN'T include starting 3 guards? The only reason we weren't considered "small ball" last year is that we started 2 7-footers. You insert MoT into our last-year's starting lineup instead of Cato, and even with the tallest player in the league, we're one of the smallest teams out there.
if we had tmac and yao locked up to long contracts everything would fall into place. people would want to even play here.
so your telling me this whole Tracy McGrady wants to opt out of his contract talk that was stired up over the past few days started with this "New York Post columnist Peter Vescey appeared on Best Damn Sports Show Period on Fox Sports Tuesday night. According to Vescey, Tracy McGrady does not want to remain in Orlando and could possibly be involved in a sign-and-trade to San Antonio." there you have it, Tracy McGrady will never be in a rockets uniform. Mr. Vescey just gave it the kiss of death.
MAN My T-Mac trade seem more pausible everyday SF + Mobely + Cato + TE for T-Mac and Hill It makes Orlando an instant playoff team gets us T-Mac Rocket River OOPS .. . this is from Versey so it won't happen
Two guys who are scrubs without a decent low-post player to a team with no dominant big man, for the second-best shooting guard in the league. And SA won't have a PG.
Raven, is there any particular reason you were reading a Spurs article in the first place, or are you just out of your mind with offseason restlessness?
Two major problems. 1) The Spurs will have to renounce Horry before they can trade Manu or else Manu will be BYC. (The Spurs fall under the cap once Horry is renounced). 2) They have to get to $12.2m with Manu and the following: Nesterovic...$6,160,000 Rose............$5,462,500 Horry............$5,408,700 (Team Option) Bowen.........$4,106,667 Turkoglu.......$2,803,834 (Qualifying offer FA) Parker..........$1,545,441 Ward.............$1,100,000 (Player Option). EDIT CORRECTION: Once the Spurs renounce Horry, they have the cap space to take on McGrady's contract. But I just don't think Manu and Bowen and a future 1st will be the best deal on the table.
