Duren is REALLY young but I agree he is in a group of about 5-7 guys that potentially could go #1 in the draft. I wouldn't sleep on Jaden Hardy. AJ Griffin IF he is healthy may be the best freshman in the country as well.
Yeah.... well you let me know how many players you have seen that are as long as Chet that have the type of dexterity and fluidity of movement he has. I'm not saying Chet is will be Durant, but players that move like Chet do and have that skill set at that size are very good as long as they don't get hurt. We saw the Rockets pass on another big man with that fluidity and dexterity in movement and we already are regretting it. We can let the season play out, but short of injury concerns, Chet will likely be the top prospect in the USA. There is a center in Africa that could challenge him if the early reports are accurate.
As I’ve said many times, can’t go wrong with either. For this team I would prefer Chet. He fits in great with Sengun and Green. That defense, length and offensive upside is nasty. Imagine a longer Christian Wood that was elite defensively.
Chet. He has more to offer across the board. We'll get a glimpse, but even this year won't a change a thing because frankly the NCAA landscape is a joke. The pick will remain a gamble, but I like the odds. I don't think anything that happens on the court this year will be enough to swing the draft stock one way or the other. The obvious elephants in the room are that he's a rail, and he's white. Neither is likely to change a great deal, so he better be able to play basketball.
I'm just saying you can't use Durant as an indicator that that's the guy any more than you could use Jordan as an indicator that a typical athletic 2 guard would work out. I'll wait til I see games until I form an opinion, I'm certainly not going to prematurely jump aboard the hype train just because the Mobley mob can't stop pining.
I'm sure he is, most potential top picks are pretty special. I'm just saying you really can't use players like Durant, Jordan, Lebron etc as indicators that a prospect will be a GOAT like they are, for every one of them there's dozens of their archetype who didn't get there because those are the anomaly players of that type, not the typical.
We haven't even experienced the Jalen Green experience yet, and we're already in the Holmgren/Banchero experience. I'll laugh when we end up with the 6th or 7th pick and have to start a thread about the Jabari Smith or Caleb Houstan Experiences. lol.
It'll make for interesting viewing this season - some nice prospects around. I'd like to get Banchero - but it's early! Who knows what happens from here? Jalen Johnson was seen as a top 5 prospect for a time early last year... who knows what his career will look like, but he certainly didn't get drafted top 5!
Not with the early lotto pick ..... There are NO Point Guards in the top 10 prospects. There's only one shooing guard in the top 12. The first Point Guard is ~12-14th. Its just a really poor draft for the position , you can pick one with the Brooklyn pick that'll be in the 20s.
Chet has an enticing blend of skills and length, but his frame suggests he’ll never put on enough weight and he’s not nearly as athletic as Durant was. High bust potential.
