http://blogs.charlotte.com/panthers/2007/10/smith-has-messa.html Smith has message for rookie Very interesting incident just happened in the locker room. Two reporters were talking with rookie receiver Dwayne Jarrett about his frustration at barely getting to play after being a second-round pick. As Jarrett was talking, receiver Steve Smith, who hasn’t been talking to the media recently, walked out to his own locker and talked to Jarrett. "Instead of talking to the media, why don’t you go watch some film?" Smith said. Jarrett gave a slight smile and kept talking to the media. Smith, followed up in a very strong tone. "Seriously," Smith said. Jarrett did keep talking and we’ll have a full story on his rough rookie season in tomorrow’s paper.
Jarrett is frustrated?? His frustration pales in comparison to Steve Smith's. After all he has either Vincenzo Testaverde, who is probably old enough to be his father throwing to him or this joker: So, I can see why Steve might be a little testy these days.
What may be even more funny is, does anybody remember on draft day when Keyshawn Johnson said he couldn't wait for Jarret to come to Carolina so he could teach him some things? Maybe he just needs Johnson there to help him with that. LOL!
I wouldn't say he was humiliated him. Smith may have been offering what he thought was good advice, he just made himself look like a douche in the process. It make have more to do with Smith's animosity towards the media than a desire to rag on a rookie.
I'd be scared of Smith if I was a Panther this season...the dude is gonna break someone. Im just waiting for the snap.
Maybe he wasn't trying to humiliate the kid, but it wasn't anything short of great advice. You don't like your playing time? It's no one's fault but your own.
WOW. I am shocked. NOT AT THAT... at this: WTF is CLUTCH doing reading a Charlotte blog?!?!? Rockets' season started, man! I keeed... i keed...
I read somewhere that the Carolina coaches glossed Jarret "Tinkerbell." jajajaja!!!!!! Another USC player bites the dust.
Good to see one of my ex-Utes being a leader. Hey, you guys have to understand, the only other thing we have is Alex Smith.
I don't think this makes him look bad at all. It makes the rookie look bad because he basically openly questioned his work ethic. smith is right anyway, if he was deserving of the play time he'd more than likely be getting it.
Steve Smith is probably the meanest 5' 7" man on the planet ~ he's got to be close to beating up someone this year.
Damn. That rookie should be thankful he's at least with a team. I say ban him until he becomes a member or a contributing member (like Smith).
Yeah, you just know he wants to be locked into a room with David Carr for about 30 seconds. I'm not a Carr fan at all, but Smith's comments and behavior about Carr are over the top. It's safe to say said QB won't be returning to Carolina next year.
And Carr doesn't watch film either right? At least I thought I'd remembered that about him. Steveron must be about to pop.
He was on Inside the NFL last week (I recall correctly) anyway, he openly talks about going to counseling in order to help with his anger
