Charlie asked Rich if he would trade Shandon and #9 to LAC for #3 and Rich said absolutely. I wouldn't do it. There is no way I would deal Shandon Anderson in any deal. He and Steve are untouchable along with Cuttino once he signs in August. I would trade Cato, Thomas, and #9 for #1. Especially since Jayson Williams is about to retire I think New Jersey would go for it and plus they're getting a developing young Kenny Thomas at PF. Then we take Swift and pickup Croshere on the FA market. And it would take the #1 to get Swift because apparently Charlie said Vancouver is not about to pass up Swift and looks like they're staying at #2. They also mentioned that indeed the Rockets were trying like hell to move up and did have conversations with NJ. Also, don't forget that Rudy is going to be on this hour.

I wonder if Charlie and Rich realize all the implications of moving Shandon.

not only that but he said he would pick fizer over miles with the 3rd pick. fizer could be a good player in the nba but miles could be a great player.

Somebody please post what Rudy says- I'm dying to know but I live in Beaumont and for some reason I can't pick up 610 and 740. They usually come in but today they aren't. And also, it's just my opinion but Cato, Kenny, and pick 9 is too much. Maybe Kenny, pick 9, and another player but if we lose Cato who would be our center? Plus if Cato has been working out like everyone has said, I dont want to trade him.

I might trade Shandon to New Jersey with #9 for the #1. Kerry Kittles may be joining Jayson Williams on that retirement bus so the Nets need a SG too. Cuttino would then for sure re-sign because he would be assured a starting spot. Then at #38 we take a back-up SG like Michael Redd.

    SF: Williams
    PF: Swift
    C: Cato
    PG: Francis
    SG: Mobley

THe Nets can use #9 on Pryzbilla or Tsakalidis. I think one of them will still be there.

    Nets
    SF: Gill
    PF: Van Horn
    C: Pryzbilla or Tsakalidis
    PG: Marbury
    SG: Anderson

Trade Walt and #9 for their #1. They have Kendell Gill to play SG. They would need more offense and Walt would fit the bill. I would even throw in KT and take Swift with the 1st pick.

Rudy sounded, to me, like #9 is NOT where they want to be. I think he desperately wants to move up. When he talked about Miles, you could almost hear him drooling and one rumor even has them moving up to #1 to get Kenyon Martin!!!

He was also very high on Johnson saying that to Johnsons credit he stifled some of his creativity at Cinncinati, but that he was a very smooth creative player with a great shot.

Sounds like he is looking more at 3 than 4 unless he can get all the way to #1! Wouldn't that be something.

I agree, Miles sounds like the guy Rudy really wants.

If the Rockets were somehow able to pull off the #1 pick, Rudy would take Swift, not Martin.

did anyone else notice how Pallilo totally wanted to trade cato for anything we could get just so we could dump his salary?

i have a feeling general managers around the league feel the same way he does.

could we be possibly overating cato's trade value?

Jeff: You're not "Jeff in the Heights", are you? [IMG] I agree that it would take a package of Mobley+Cato+#9 to land the #1, but I can't see the Rockets pulling the trigger on that deal. I don't think they want Swift. I have a gut feeling that Darius Miles is the guy they are after, and I think they will deal with the Clippers to get him.

    In a Perfect World:
    Thomas+Cato+#9+Drew+conditional 1st rounder => Kandi+#3

dice-perhaps his trade value, but not his value to the team.

Without him, we are a POOR defensive team. And have Pig Miller being one of our main centers.
With him, we're at least mediocre, maybe more.

Athletic 7 foot guys that aren't sticks aren't exactly a dime a dozen.

Asterisk-If we got the #1 pick, I'd hope not. I'd be muttering to myself for forever about how we had the chance to pick up the "franchise big man" (Swift) and blew it.

I'm concerned about the cost of the #1 pick. I'd think long and hard if it forced us to lose The Catomic one.

The more lefties on your team, the better.

    Draft Moiso. Trade Moises.

    Trade or bench Kenny Thomas.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think Mobley and the #9 could get that done or close to done -- wouldn't take Cato. Mobley would probably be close to the, if not the very, best SG in this draft.

I've got the same hunch. Atleast I'm guessing that may be what they're really after.

i don't know if #9 and mobley would be enough to get #1 especially if the magic are really offering what is being reported, but i do think mobley and #9 would be enough to get #3 so we can get miles. i would definately trade mobley and #9 to get darius miles. i don't think mobley would mind going to the clippers where he and odom would be the stars of the team and he would be able to take as many shots as he wanted.

Rudy definitely thinks Miles will go 3 or 4, and mentioned how a young SF who needed development would fit their squad to a T. There is no doubt who he was talking about.

Rudy also said that the Clips really like their pick and may take Miles (the implication). Miles make no sense for the Clips since they already have Odom at the 3.

Ok so here's the question, would the Clips deal the #3 pick for Williams/Drew/Thomas/9th pick? If they would accept that offer, I would jump on it, but if they demanded Cato, I would tell them to get lost.

I would agree that Mobley is better than Alexander, using the same criteria that 'experts' are using to differentiate Alexander and Johnson. But if Alexander is available to us at #9, I would have to assume that the rumored Orlando trade would be stronger (Doleac, Maggette, #5 and #10), thus calling for at least one big man (i.e. Cato).

During the morning show with Carroll Dawson, someone mentioned the free agent signing period starting July 1st. Usually, that is when the signing period starts every year except for last year (August 1st) due to the special circumstances from the Lockout, the year before. Just wanted to know if anyone could clarify the actual starting date this year.
