http://www.oursportscentral.com/services/releases/?id=3960166 The part we care about is that the shooting stars competition doesnt have a Dallas team, but a Texas team composed of Dirk(NBA, Dallas), Kenny "the Jet" Smith(Legend, Houston), and Becky Hammon(WNBA, SA). I am going to be rooting for the Texas team to win but it will be hard to root for Dirk.
Since Kenny is a marginal Rocket at best, I'm going to be cheering for the basket to collapse and severely injure Becky Hammon and in doing so the dreadful "shooting stars" competition and the WNBA will be killed off in one fell swoop. No disrespect to Becky to all, I would certainly not knowingly wish harm upon her since she is a talented young lady and not bad looking (for a WNBA chick), but it would be a great thing for the sport of basketball in general to do away with those 2 embarrassments on an otherwise great game.
Well, it's not like we have a WNBA team anymore..... SA did it before (and won it, I think). at least Houston is represented in this (probably our only all-star recognition if Brooks doesn't make it)
Kenny. two time world champion. best 3 point shooter in Rockets history. Always representing Clutch City (The original).
Kenny the Jet Smith is a funny guy, I like him. And he definitely was a Rocket and can represent the Rockets as an All Star there. I'll root for the Jet, but for Dirk? That's tough to do so, just watch and enjoy the show, I think that'll be better.
Kenny Smith has always been a question mark among Rocket loyalty. Yes, he did help us earn two championships but I never thought he has been a favorite among us diehard Rocket fans. I suppose I'd cheer him one though.
Just for fun, but none of any mavericks would get my support in any kind of events, even in this stupid all star shooting star competition.
I don't know who's on the other teams or who Becky Hammon is, but if she can shoot, I like the Texas squad's chances.
man, when i heard yesturday that houston was in the haier shooting stars constest i thought that their would be a rockets player AS OF NOW and its gonna be hard to root for dirk.
hear hear. Kenny's 7 threes in game 1 of the 95 finals (including an amazing duck under Penny three at the buzzer to send the game to overtime) basically won that series for the Rockets. Marginal Rocket he is not!
