I know Trumpflation has its own thread, but the entirely DOGE -Trump- Musk - Vought created recession is deserving of its own discussion

It seems almost unavoidable at this point that we are headed for a deep, deep recession. Just based on 200K+ federal firings & pullback of contracts, the March employment report (to be released April 4) seems certain to show bigger job losses than any month ever outside of a few in 2008-9 and 2020.

Add on to that enormous private market uncertainty - how could you hire in these conditions? - and this is going to be very, very bad.

To be clear: Even greater damage will be done by the loss of federal government productivity. The workers who are losing their jobs were worth more than they were being paid! We are all poorer when roads, planes, and food are unsafe, when parks are closed, etc.

This will show up in the March report, to be released on April 4. Why not in the February report, coming out March 7? Because that asks for employment in the pay period including Feb. 12, and the firings were nearly all too late for that.

Folks, prepare. If you are long the market with your retirement, think about not being (though, market timing is hard)

    Save. Save. Save.

It's going to be brutal, who knows when we get out of it.

I mean, I wish I was wrong but this upcoming recession is really truly unique in terms of being ENTIRELY man-made and voluntary, it's unprecedented self-sabotage in world/american history.

Look, the US economy is pretty deeply unequal, but overall in the post-pandemic era, we have had the best outlook in the world and it's literally not even close among developed countries.

And we areabsolutely - destroying it, voluntarily, by removing a huge engine of growth (so we can all be slaves?) and a huge amount of value add. We can't really easily get it back.

Add on top of it we are decapitating all basic Science & Medical research, destroying our university system, and opening up the economy to organized criminality, both at home and abroad.

I know this has been the plan for the last month, but it's still breathtakingly sad how we are doing this to ourselves and all of the people who had nothing to do with it who are going to have their lives destroyed - because of a few ignorant men.

Trump / Musk do not care about causing a recession. In fact it's good as it keeps inflation down. Musk doesn't even care about Tesla anymore.

They are going to get filthy rich selling the US power to the highest bidder. They are going to build there little technofascist state, and yeah, you better believe they are going to throw a lot of liberals (and conservatives ) in prison who they find as problematic to their objectives.

these few ignorant men won the popular vote…this is what America wants, so I say let it happen

they literally drew up Project 2025 and released it to the masses, and millions said “yes, that’s what I want”

Nah, the low info morons didn't even know it existed, they just listened to idiot galaxy brains like Joe Rogan & the other podcasters & streamers & projected their own version of Trumpism

Anyway **** them I don't care about them, I care about the friends, family & neighbors that are going to get hurt in this carnage. It's disgusting and depraved - America seems like it's over, if my parents weren't still alive I'd think about leaving

You know, I don't doubt the Effective Acceleration chuds absolutely want this, but while they are doing great at the "breaking things" part,

....the whole thing of becoming feudal lords in an angry starving nation of 300 million with a billion guns seems way harder to pull off than the first step - they're going to need those New Zealand bunkers.

How will it keep inflation down when Trump declared tariffs against everyone. Not only looking at a recession but also inflation. What’s worse than a recession?

well it’s every man for themselves now, so take care of and be able to protect yourself and the ones u love

MAGAts love what is happening to this country, and Democrats are weak, pathetic, and spineless

I always voted for what I believed would benefit the country as a whole, but now I don’t even care anymore because it’s pointless…every man for themselves

Recession will counter tariffs. Cause a recession to weaken consumer spending and demand causing inflation and thus interest rates to drop. Rich don't get their money devalued. Gives time for Trump to consolidate power. Why do you think gold prices are soaring. Everyone preparing for a big recession and a massive drop in interest rates. Then once everything crashes, they will buy back in at lower prices and make a fortune on the recovery.

MAGA won't abandon them - they have MAGA, they have the military. They are not afraid. If there is a recession they will blame Biden and liberals anyway. They told everyone there will be pain - they are telling you they are about to wreck the economy in order to reshape the country.

America will be nothing like it has been in its modern history. When they say MAGA they mean pre-civil war.

This will be more a depression than a recession to be honest. Wall Street will tumble a lot of money will vanish overnight. His support will go down. Republicans donors will push back hard.

Yeah, I'm saying with a complete breakdown of state capacity, which is where we are heading, thejy are overestimating their ability to control via the military or citizen militias or wahtever is only going to go so far as the next militia or drug lord or whatever.

I know these techno fascists have a fantasy of using AI to control everybody, but, the whole "9 meals from anarchy" thing is not gonna be solved by a chatbot.

The plan is that they will have all of them in their pocket because they can kill or throw any of them in jail if they don't fall into line.

Trump will have absolute power. His support won't matter after a certain point. Yes the stock market will crash - but they don't care. They have prepared for that.

Yeah, they think they have. Life has a way of being more complicated than master plans for world domination are able to account for.

Well it's hard to predict what happens. We also don't know what the actions of our foreign adversaries will be - I give them a lot of credit for having orchestrated this. Russians think of Trump as our Gorbachev - the man who will break America an see it fall into ruins. So it's possible it collapses. But Trump will come out ahead - Russians always take care of their assets.
