Wow. Just take a look around the league. See how many star/good players are injured/DNP as of tonight! Just to name a few: Yao (out for 6 weeks) with the knee Lamar Odom (knee) until at least end of january Peja Stojakovic (back surgery) out indefinitely Chris Paul (ankle) for a month Chris Bosh (knee?) Chauncey Billups (calf strain) 10 days to 2 weeks Rashard Lewis Wade (wrist) indefinitely Shaq (knee) Paul Pierce (foot?) Nenad Kristic (knee) out for season Kenyon Martin (knee) out for season Chris Mihm (ankle?) out for season T.J. Ford (ankle sprain) day to day Sam Cassell (feet) not playing currently? Monta Ellis (ankle) day to day Players that have missed significant time (so far): Ron Artest (back, knees) T-Mac (back) Ginobili (back) Baron Davis Pau Gasol (broken foot) just started playing recently Ray Allen (ankle) And the players from the suspensions: Melo was the only significant one, but maybe JR too. Iverson missed a good amount of games while he was being traded. I haven't even gotten through everyone... Injuries/suspensions are part of the game, granted, but when was the last time so many quality/star players have been out at one time? How many games missed is that? It seems that almost very few teams are running at 90-100%.
Yeah, exactly. I was going to put Nowitzki but he didn't even miss a game after falling down so hard and not being able to walk off the floor. He only missed the remainder of that game and probably could have played if he needed to. The 4 best teams in the league have no problems now injury wise (or at all, i guess): Suns Jazz Mavs Spurs Coincidence? A little bit, but not really. I'm pretty sure if Yao didn't go down and T-Mac didn't go down we'd be right up there with them. Oh well it happens.
you're right...when a Hollywood movie fails, the actors should give up their contractural salary, too.
Hahaha I just titled it paid vacations because they're getting paid while not playing (working) not because they're just out there chillin' getting paid and living the high life while their teams are struggling without them. It was just simply an observation as to the number of injuries currently in the NBA, maybe I shouldn't have titled it that
Well, the Jazz and Suns were due for healthy seasons. I guess Spurs had the Manu injury. As far as the Mavs go, was Howard out for a while to start the season? He is their second best player, so that hurt them for a lil bit. They're all heathy now, but they did have their bumps in the road (though all four have more than adequate benches). I think we're just incredibly unfortunate right now. We'll pull through though.
i've been on paid vacation for like two weeks now... man it feels good! though it is not NBA salary... if it was, i woulda hit the mens club a few times.
