Didn't see this posted... http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=jones/061113 Mario finally converting some ESPN writers.
awesome article, especially the point that nationally no one may not want to say anything negative about new orleans. that really is a factor I believe, and lets face it, winning covers up a lot of faults.
That article was excellent. Very well written and I salute this guy for being the first to admit that the Texans aren't a joke for thier pick.
good for mario!!! he's a good guy, and didn't deserve the treatment he got from the national media on draft day.
If Domanick Davis had been able to play this year, I think the whole Mario or Reggie debate would have subsided a lot faster. Once Davis was IR, and somebody named Wali Lundy was carrying the rock, things got ugly quick. In hindsight, the Texans should have taken a certain DE instead of a certain QB with their first pick in franchise history. So the Mario Williams pick is just the franchise trying to start over and do it right the second time. Hopefully for Houston's sake these next five years will go better then the first five.
i'm not a huge texans fan, but williams has looked good (not great) after starting slow out of the gate. i'll always root hard for the guy simply because no one deserves to be raked over the coals like he was before he even took one NFL snap. as glad as i am to see a GREAT article written about mario, i'm glad someone had the guts to question why the "experts" never brought up the inadequacies of mr. reggie bush.
If Williams pans out. And we could go back in time... Peppers and Williams holding down the ends. Man! Then again, with Peppers I doubt we have the 1st pick last yr.
Wow, that's probably the most well written, even-handed article I've ever seen written on Page 2. Usually it's just crap writers trying to be funny and ignoring the facts of any particular situation. Great read.
