Scott has been released by New Jersey. He will probably sign with us.. only because we know how bad we need shooters to stretch the swarming defenses people throw at us. We should get him for little to nothing. This would be a good first of many offseason moves for the Rockets.
Padgett / Novak .......... how many of those type of players due we actualy need. It just seems that we have so many other needs to bring in players that mirror each other, but I did like him.
sorry... here you go! http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_a...ets_decline_option_on_robinson_waive_padgett/
The fact that the Rockets will sign him is PURE SPECULATION. I know that Novak is a similar player to Padgett, but I see the Rockets playing Padgett more than Novak. Plus Padgett has the size to play the four if we want to run a little bit. I can really see this happening. Jeff Van Gundy mentioned last year that not having padgett really hurt us big time. They know he can really change how other teams play us defensively. They need to sign this guy. EVen though he's not a big time player, his prescence on the floor is big for us!!
I hope we sign him to the veteran minimum and stash Bowen on the inactive list all season. We can go with Novak/Padgett off the bench for 10-15 minutes depending on who has the hot hand. The two of them together should at least be a Bullard.
I hope the Rockets don't you have room on the roster for both Novak and Padgett. That would mean they didn't acquire nobody else.
First, JVG will never play Novak except in garbage minutes. Second, JVG knows Padgett is smart and can play defense -- better than Ryan Bowen IMO. JVG will probably give him the same amount of minutes as 2004, considering the key steals and timely shots that he made back then. In addition, Padgett knows the system and apparently enjoyed playing for the Rockets. Third, Cliff Robinson would require veteran's minimum, which is too much for what he has left in his tank.
How about James Jones, would he come cheap? He shot .386 compared to Padgetts .347 last year from the 3 pointline.
Giving up a spot to Novak. Rockets have four roster spots open. With the MLE, 4.2TE, 1.6TE to use Rocks would be stretching to fill those empty slots with quality players anyway. I'm all for signing Padgett.
No big need for Padgett w/ Novak on board but I wouldn't mind throwing our cheaper TE to New Jersey for Cliff.
I feel its a no brainer to sign Padgett for the vet min, especially given the Novak drafting. Who could better help Novak to learn his role than Padgett. Also, given his knowledge of the system and playing with TMAC as well as our current lack of depth at the PF slot, we could do much worse.
Lets say Clifford Robinson rather than Howard, he will be cheap and can actually shoot the 3, maybe jstu a lil more effective than howard. trade howard to portland for miles.
good, we need his athelticism badly why do we still need padgett when we already got novak ? isnt he the same kind of players but taller/quicker/younger ???
