Well, I'm trying not to get too excited about this game. I'm thinking that the Eagles are at home with a week off and the Packers, while winning five in a row, did win the last three against a joke of a Raiders' team, a second team Broncos, and barely beat the Seahawks, a horrible road team, at home. What gives me a little optimism is that the Eagles aren't exactly the greatest at stopping the run and that's the Packers' strength. They ran for 241 against them back in November, a heartbreaking loss at Lambeau on a Monday night. As great as Green is, they really don't miss a beat when Fisher or Davenport come in. Plus, after winning the game for the Packers last weekend (first time in NFL history that a playoff OT game has ended on a defensive TD), Harris may want to play even better this week against the team that traded him away. Still, I say the magic runs out this weekend. Despite the Eagles being fearful ( drapg) of the Packers, they pull off a 21-16 win, if St. Louis wins the day before. If the Panthers pul of the upset against the Rams, my prediction is 24-13, Green Bay. Go Pack Go!
I have never believed in fate or destiny. That said, I think Brett Favre is on some sort of magical carpet ride, in which the gods want him to go all the way to Houston. Packers - 31 Eagles - 13 It doesn't hurt that the Pack was by preseason pick as the NFC representative in the Super Bowl. (Don't even ask who I picked in the AFC. It's shameful)
Eagles are too tough and are on too much of a roll. Plus, they don't have Tampa Bay to stumble over this year. Sorry RM95. Eagles - 28 Packers - 17
On a related note, everyone looking for a great place to watch this game should head out to Nick's at Briar Forest and Wilcrest. I'll be there with my ragged #4 from 1996-97 on and my cheesehead atop my ugly mug. Cheap beer and blackberry brandy (of which I will not be partaking this week...brandy, not the beer) shots!!
BTW, drapg, that'd be awesome! It's definitely Lambeau South complete with Lambeau Leaps and "Go Pack Go" chants. And now, please bow your heads for the Lambeau Prayer: Our Favre, who art in Lambeau Hallowed be thine arm. The bowl will come It will be won in Houston As it is in Lambeau. Give us this Sunday our weekly win And give us many touchdown passes But do not let others pass against us. Lead us not into frustration But deliver us to Houston. For thine is the 3-time MVP The best of the NFC And the glory of all Cheddarheads Now and forever...GO PACK!
I predict my Eagles will pull this one out simply because when they played them earlier this year the Pack bhad them beat and should have won the game. The Packers beat the Eagles virtually everywhere in that game and the Eagles still came out with a win at Lambeau. I think the Pack will come out running the ball as they did in Week 10 but the Eagles will manage to slow Green down and not allow him close to 200 yards on the ground again although he'll probably still break the 100 yard mark. Jim Johnson will bring his complex schemes and blitzing on defense that will hurt Favre. I believe the Eagles will win in a close one, I'd say about 24-21.
Definitely the better of the 2 NFC games this weekend, I see a close ballgame with the Eagles winning. But I am only going with Philly because of home field. RM95, What caused you to become a Packers fan? Liking Brett Favre? Or are you from Wisconsin? Or is it something else?
My parents moved from Katy to Gurnee, IL (with a brief stopover in Aptos, CA), which is about 10 miles from the Wisconsin border, in 1993. My first Christmas there was in 1995, when there were indications that the Oilers may be leaving Houston. Luckily, my Dad got tickets to a game at Lambeau and I was hooked. I went again in 1996, the last regular season game of their championship year!
I think the Packers have a good shot at winning. Unlike the media that's calling this a team of destiny, I think they're just getting hot at the right moment. Also I don't really have much faith in McNabb under the spotlight in the playoffs. I could just as well be wrong though
I can't wait for this game and I think the Packers will win...The Eagles are over-rated and Favre is on a mission...Go Pack...
San Diego? I am just baffled anyone could pick them to win after they lost the two players who made their defense even half way respectable. Of course I thought the Raiders would make the playoffs but I have an excuse because I am a complete moron.
I was trying to make a big splash. How many predicted the 4-12 Rams would win in 1999? How about the Ravens in 2000? or the Patsies in 2001? Not many. I wanted to make a controversial and ballsy pick. I overrated David Boston's impact, as well as Drew Brees. But I guarantee I'll follow the same recipe next season, rather than be bland and go chalk (Eagles vs. Colts).
