The Indiana Pacers will not match the four-year, $20-million offer the Toronto Raptors made to restricted free agent Jarrett Jack. Jack said he’s scheduled to fly to Toronto Monday and there’s a press conference scheduled for Tuesday. http://www.indystar.com/article/200...ORTS/Pacers+won+t+match+offer+for+Jarret+Jack The decision by the Pacers not to match the offer isn’t surprising. The Pacers are financially strapped and they want to avoid going over the league’s $69.9 million luxury tax threshold. Matching the offer would have put them in a tough position to make other roster moves.
Lose Parker and got a backup point guard. Raptors needs to put some stars around Bosh before he leaves in 2010.
Jack > Parker. He was a good vet, but over-played in Toronto. He'll do well in 12 minutes off the bench in Cleveland, but Jack is only 25 and can play both guard spots. Stars? Hedo is pretty good, should have been an all-star last season. Bargnani and Calderon are pretty good, though no all-stars - though Bargs is sill young and getting much better. There's AS potential there, along with our 1st round pick DeRozan. Add in Jack and that's 6 pretty decent players. That said - I could go both ways on Bosh staying or leaving. He's not a franchise player in the championship sense.
yeah it's not simple to obtain stars, i agree with purplefever that they have done well with what's been available this offseason.
alos, calderon appears to be injured often, jack is capable of starting and posting decent numbers - the need is there for him.
