i'll start this off by saying that i already read the other thread about audiogalaxy alternatives...but i'm one of the sparse breed here that has virtually no experience with the internet (hence the fact that i just registered here in february - too poor for technology formerly, too poor for food now). i heard a lot about spyware and i'm assuming that's a feature in some software that invades your computer in some way shape or form. again, i have no friggin' clue. i just downloaded kazaa and i like it a lot better than morpheus (plus morpheus is reportedly going bankrupt anyways), but people have told me that's one with a notorious rep for spyware and viruses. i also saw something in the other thread about spyware disabling software, but i don't really get that one either. basically, i would like to know if there's anything out there comparable to audiogalaxy because i have no need for video downloads really other than p*rn (you're supposed to laugh here). or if not, something in the gnutella morpheus kazaa format that doesn't slow down all other applications or screw up my computer in the long run. does this exist yet, or is the only solution the aforementioned spy vs. spyware anti software stuff? thank you for any 5-year-old-computer-literacy help.

any solution other than "buy this program..." or "just give it up and go to wherehouse music dude" because while i can't afford food, i sure as hell can't afford anything i have to buy other than cigarrettes, condoms and beer somehow- and i know none of those three will be playing my favorite tool or bone thugs album for me any time soon.

p.s.- i know, if i didn't smoke so much and drink so much i'd have extra condom money, you're right.

Try WinMX. Thats a pretty awesome P2P program. Its more the same as Napster than Audiogalaxy and others. You get lots of results and they are pretty fast.

my advice, if you choose to use morpheus or kazaa (as i do), than do NOT run ad-aware... that program gives major grief to Windows... I had to reformat my hd after pulling that stunt...

i run ZA Pro, so i'm not too worried about spyware... but if info goes out, then i accept it.. i mean we are getting music for free, so that is the price you pay...

drapg - I run Ad-Aware all the time - I am on XP.

I have had no problems with it. I am using versions 5.62 and 5.82.

I have a PIII 1GHZ machine and 512mb Ram though, that may be your problem?
