Oh Man! I was searching through my network folder, and I found a pornographic photo saved in my folder. I was freaking out, and didnt understand how it got there. So by process of elimination, I started to look through everyone elses folders, and BAM! I found the culprit. This guy is probably the most filthy, stinky, nasty, sloth of a human being you will ever meet in your life, and he stupidly is saving the photos on the network. I assume he accidently saved it in mine since my folder ascends next to his. What should I do? Should I point it out to the b*stard, and tell him he is setting himself up for failure, or should I rat him out to the boss to rid this office of his foul stench?
Depends - besides being stinky, filthy, nasty, etc. is he a fairly decent worker? does he get his work done, or is he a burden to everyone? If he's a burden, then rat him out. Otherwise, just tuck that little piece of knowledge away for a later time of better use.
I would report him. Even if you delete it and move on, it could be traced back to you and you would be screwed.
He easily could be the nicest person that you will ever meet in your life, he makes a medium amount of mistakes, stuff that I usually catch before it gets to customers. The only problem is that when he comes in our office, he stinks it up. This guy probably bathes once every two weeks, and its so bad that the management created him his own office on the opposite wing to get him away from everyone.
Don't rat him out. It sounds like he has a miserable enough life as it is now, especially if he's a nice guy. But I would tell him. That should be enough for him to quit this behavior.
I wouldn't do anything about it. He'd have to be completely and utterly incompetent and a burden to me/everyone else or he'd have to be a malicious arsehole for me (if I were you) to rat him out.
Actually, kill two birds with one stone. Tell him you found the p*rn and you're warning him that he could be screwed if any higher ups catch it. Then as an aside, tell him if he'd like the real thing, start showering.
Does his firing benefit you in ANY way professionally? Even as a tattler? If so, do it. Someone would do it to you without thinking twice.
My boss was honored at our company's year-end banquet, was given the employee of the year and was lavished with praise by our CFO. Future CFO material, in fact. A couple of months later, he was suddenly dismissed, never to be heard from again (though we still have awards posters up with his mug on it). And, the rumor is that he ran afoul of the p*rnography rule.
