I was hoping someone had made a thread like this, but if so, I missed it and please lock. But if not, let's make this the dedicated thread for Patrick Patterson videos, instead of scattershooting them through other threads where people will miss them. Here's one to start, picked basically at random: (and it does seem to remind a bit of King Carl) <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/jwjCSvE1ngk&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/jwjCSvE1ngk&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> Please add videos and discuss.
I agree. I keep reading from board posters about how he seems like Landry v2, but not quite at the same level of quick-ups. It's hard to see how not. Obviously, dunk highlight videos are dunk highlight videos...but this guy seems to have some VERY quick ups, solid dunks, freakish athleticism. I know he's listed at 6'9 and it's hard to imagine he'll be as nasty as the player I'm going to compare him to, who was 6'10....but when PP dunks, it sorta looks like Shawn Kemp to me for some reason. Finally, while there's not a ton of shooting in these highlight videos, he shot 35% from college 3, taking a good amount, this past year. And everyone seems to be saying he is going to be a very solid defender. The part of his offensive game, then, that might need work, would be facing up from 15 feet and being able to take a few dribbles in a drive to the basket. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/KAU2HxxbA4I&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/KAU2HxxbA4I&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/SVY0UHDT3bI&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/SVY0UHDT3bI&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

I watch these dunk highlights and I'm reminded of...Mike Harris. Definitely has the dunking skills but needs space to build up speed and momentum for his dunks. He doesn't seem to have that sudden pogo leaping ability of a Kemp or even Landry a few seasons back. Not a criticism but just an observation.
I see this as a positive. This kid definitely has that hunger inside him to succeed. He is also very crafty and makes the most out of the resources he has.
Not to criticize your observation...but it's not really a good one. Just look at any number of videos. Here, Mike Harris: <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/md0NUXyLd_c&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/md0NUXyLd_c&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> He's actually got some nice athletic dunks in this one below, but still compare the dunk which is highlighted in slow motion below around the 25-30 second mark with my video of PP around the 2:15-2:18 mark. Very similar opportunities, and as you noted, Harris has to wait for a defender to go by before dunking with less explosive ability than PP does in his. Moreover, PP has 3 inches on Harris, and longer wingspan... <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/8ifQp5V-epo&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/8ifQp5V-epo&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
No argrument from me. Patterson is bigger, has a greater wingspan, probably more athletic. All reasons why he's a lottery pick and Harris isn't. Still, I see more similarities in Patterson's dunks with Harris's dunks than with Kemp's. Given that Kemp in his prime was one of the best in-game dunking big men, no shame in that.
Patterson may well end up being a bit of a beast, but I vividly remember Kemp, and I really don't see the similarities either. Kemp was a monster leaper and strong as an ox, but he did not exactly possess what you could call 'basketball skills'. And while Harris is not the first person who would have popped into my mind, I can see where Patterson could be called more similar to Harris than Kemp. In either case, the dude is ours now, and seems like a good kid with some good abilities. Maybe now we will end up with enough pieces to defend the likes of the Mavs, Lakers and Spurs.
