I like KG a lot, but he's allllllllllllll athleticism. Not much of a post up game, but just heart and god-given talents. Kobe, he's not even close to vintage Jordan and he's not too clutch by my standards. He'd rather shoot to win than pass it to an open guy on a last possesion. Paul Pierce he's just a gunner Allen Iverson- I could put up the numbers he puts up with the amount of shots he takes Who else am I leaving out?
Sissy Webber. If the guy played in half the games he misses he might not make the list, but he is as unclutch as they come, plus he is to skeeered to take it down low where he belongs.
wow, you are wrong with all of those assesments *kg w/ no post moves?????? U kidding, he must take tips from mchale with some of those moves he pulls off, sure his athleticism is his main tool but this guy has the complet package *Pierce is a gunner with accuracy and ability, any team like the celtics w/ no talent needs the star to take most of the shots, and don't go only on his play against the top defender in artest *Kobe isnt clutch? hmm... i'll send you a tape of the portland game, or the old portland series when shaq fouled out a few times, or the denver game this year or...etc *AI has alot of talent, he was overrated, but now he is not mentioned in top 5 automatically; + he has single handedly taken his team to the finals, not an easy thing to do
Wow. That may be the most ridiculous thing I've heard in weeks. KG? All Athleticism? The guy is just as skilled as any other big man in the post and as skilled as any big man besides Dirk on the perimeter. And that's just offense. I wouldn't call anyone on your list overrated.
Yep, Paul Pierce is an overrated gunner. But that's the only one I agree with. Webber overrated? Not really. He can't really help that he keeps getting injured. Sure, he could've tried to play through all of them and his career would've been over by now. He was making a strong push for MVP before his last big injury, and just hasn't been the same since. When Webber's really at his peak, he's as valuable as Duncan or Garnett. No big man but Sabonis could pass like him a few years ago. Problem is the injuries have been keeping him from that peak for quite awhile now...
Though alot of people are going to misunderstand me, I'll submit that Yao is probably one of the most overrated players in the league right now. He probably has more potential than any other player in the league. But if you're talking about now he is very overrated by the national media. He's a very, very good young player but is not top 10 like he is spoken of.
I agree with you that KG does not have a great post up game. Compared to Tim Duncan's post game it is pretty lame. People these days just don't get to see many great post players like Hakeem or farther back, McHale and Kareem. The 2 obvious overrated players are: Vince Carter and Steve Francis. They make the All-Star team every year based on their dunking ability. Vince is injured every year and had questionable commitment to the game. Steve doesn't deserve the "superstar" label- great explosiveness but too many flaws in his game.
Kobe is better than the average in terms of Clutch, but he's not Jordan. He'll never be as good as Jordan. Kobe doesn't have the intelligence nor the ability to carry a team like jordan. That is my bar of excellence that I compare to Kobe. Garnett like I said is all athleticism. He's good, but his jumpshot is average at best, and look at the game last night. Cassell took over and not Garnett. Agreed with Webber. I'm not saying that they are bad players, but they aren't as good as the media hypes them up to be.
1) I don't necessarily agree that Garnett is all athleticism, although I see what you're saing, but how does that equate to being overrated? Aren't they 'rated' according to results? And don't KG's results, however he gets them, directly reflect his 'rating' as one of the top 2 or 3 players in the game? 2) Kobe is seriously overrarted. So was Jordan. Jordan was much better, though. 3) Pierce does a lot more than gun, although he has edged in that direction more and more, I'll grant you. 4) Iverson. I'm not sure that we ever get it right with Iverson; he's usually under or over rated. Right now, I'd almost say under, 'cause nobody's talking about him as a top talent, and I don't think the days of that being true are necessarily over. But you want shots? Jordan made Iverson look gunshy.
This is so easy. They're... SCOTTIE PIPPEN - needless to explain KARL MALONE - never a great rebounder with his size, and get a lot of pts being spoonfeed by stocken and the jerry sloan team system. And people are considering him one of the best pf of all times? YAO MING - Because of Bill Walton STEVE FRANCIS - His high light dunks and circuit shots and cross overs are very exciting but very deceiving. He is not a good basketball player. He doesn't understand the game and is a poor team player. He shouldn't be on the all-star team.
Perhaps the most idiotic assessment of a player I have seen here (and that's saying a lot). If you aren't as good as MJ, you just aren't good enough for pradaxpimp. Nice. I want to see what players you DO like.
Ginobili. Yes, he's a good player but some people talk about him like he is an all star. For every game is looks like a stud, he has a 1 for 8 stinker to go along with it.
The two people that came to my mind, at least for this season, are Iverson and Jermaine O'Neal. Both of them shoots way too low a % to be truly effective. Heck, had O'Neal been on a lesser team, everyone would think of him as a ballhog who jacks up way too many shots. Instead of being an MVP candidate that he doesn't deserve.
