In order to really put things into perspective on losses and Steve's numbers look at the overall shooting % when Steve and Mobes do not shoot the ball! 31% v 43% with Steve/Mobes

Very telling where our problems in assists and scoring droughts lay. We really need MOT, KT and TMO back into the fold...

Watch how the team evolves over the next 5-8 games.....Assists will go up and shooting % will go up.

Well there are a couple of things to look at when breaking these stats down.

First, are the other players getting the ball in a good scoring position, or are they getting a pass from steve or cat when the shot clock is down to 2 seconds and they were unable to create their own shot, by the way I hate that saying.

Second what kind of shots are the other players taking, are they cutting to the basket and getting easy buckets or are they living of of steve and Cats penetration and trying to hoist up a ton of threes.

I am not able to watch many rockets games. . . .its been over a year since I saw one, so i cant really comment on why these guys are shooting the way they are, but I will say a lot of a teams shooting percentage is dependant on the position they are in when they get the ball, if its a good scorng postion they have a better chance to score, if they still have time to score thats just gravy.

    my 2 cents

1 way of looking at it...other players need Steve and Cuttino so much that they only shoot 31%...

Another way: As the guards predicate when and where ( or more often when-not and where-not) the others get their shots, it could be easily said that because of Steve and Cuttino dominating the ball and usually only allowing for last second shots the others are only shooting 31%...

The shooting percentage is terrible because Griffin is the third scoring option and he shoots at a terrible clip especially for a front court player. The fourth option is Moochie.

Now that KT is back from injury and MoT is back from suspension, the shooting percentage will go up.

I am also one of the few people on this board that believes a player should continue to shoot the ball as long as he is hitting over 50% of his shots regardless of the position he plays. No one was complaining when Bibby was taking the majority of the shots during the WCF and Bibby is no where near the scorer Francis is.

I'm starting to feel stupid for wanting to trade Kenny Thomas away. The more I watch the team play, the more I realize I was wrong. He's an important option for this team to have on offense. There is no way that we can get an offensive player of his ability in a trade. Nice no move by the Rockets brass!

I myself would like to see the four players without the ball to move around no matter what there intent or shooting % is. We would create better spacing if all were moving. Your man can not follow you around if you are standing still.

I don't have a problem with SF or with CAT so long as the others MOVE around.

We will start shooting better as a team once the movement picks up.

You all make a great point, I mean how many other teams have a back court with a higher shooting percentage than their front court. There might be some out there but I venture to say that they are not very successful, Stevie will have an MVP type year but he needs help. As for the turnovers I venture to say that that is more because of this lack of help, and unfortunately it doesn't look like our rookies are getting much experience due to injury and fatigue?
