I set it at 2...Keep going for those 4th down conversions being up by 38 in the 4th qtr, AND leaving the MVP of the league in there. You know someone is gonna put a late hit on Brady's legs. Hell I hate the Redskins with a passion (I'm a HUGE Giants fan) and even I didn't enjoy what the Pats did last week.

I don't wish harm on anyone, but I will say some of the things they've been doing is classless...It's all about unwritten rules on how the game should be played...

They're an excellent team, they'll be in the superbowl, but c'mon...

    end of rant...

Well I'm not wishing for anyone to get hurt, I'm just saying that realistically if someone was doing that to me when I was playing ball in high school, I would not have cared about stopping myself from launching at the QB after he already got rid of the ball.

I hear ya, but I believe the Patriots Offensive Line is too good to allow it to happen. If they get a season ending injury to a starting OL guard or tackle, then perhaps it might happen.

i don't have a problem with them scoring more in a rout. if you just gave up cuz the other team sucks, how are you going to break NFL records? if everyone do that, records won't be broken much anymore.

then again, if they keep doing that, i won't have a problem if some LB take brady out. they are asking for it.

Not caring about coming down on the legs of the NFL's golden boy? I think even the defense knows better than that. Fine + suspension is a good deterrent. Just thinking about this, even if you keep putting late hits on Brady, wouldn't that just piss off the patriots even more? At that point, i would try to run up the score are much as possible just to spite you.

When you're up 35-3 in the 3rd quarter, is that an OK time to pull your starters? Or do you think it might be ok to try to let them score some more? Just in case.

I'm not talking about getting sacked...I'm talking about a late hit or roughing the QB type penalty. Their O line is too locked in to give up a clean hit on Brady and their offense is geared around Brady's quick decision making anyway.

    They're already doing that :D

What happened to all you Longhorn fans from a few years ago that said letting up on a lesser oponent is disrespecting them? This is your style of play, you ought to appreciate it.

i can't speak for those people, but clearly there is a difference between college and NFL. In NFL, wins and losses are the only thing that matters. In college, that's not the case.

As much as I dislike the Patriots it is the other team's job to stop them from scoring.

I read somewhere in a piece by John Clayton, that the Patriots are blowing teams out and running up the score because this is how Bill Belichek (sp?) is paying back Roger Goodell for the videotape incident. He is taking a no prisoners approach and wants to "punish" the league for punishing him. So, his way of punishment is just to keep running the score up. Plausible theory to me.

That's not the point. The other team has obviously failed at their job. Everyone can see that. Continuing to pile on after that is simply being a jerk.

    Exactly.

Defenses are paid to stop offenses.

Offenses are paid to score points.

In amateur sports I feel entirely different about this. But on the pro level, I don't have a ton of sympathy for a team getting blown out.

Is football the only sport we go through this analysis on?? I don't remember hearing this sort of complaint in any of the other sports. Particularly not on the pro level. When the Rockets got blown out by the Mavs in the playoffs, i wasn't mad at the Mavs...I was mad at the Rockets.

I'm kinda surprised by this. Going for it on 4th down in the 4th quarter when you're up 44-0? Of course, the first person a fan should be mad at is the team, but that doesn't make this right.

I don't wish injury on anyone, but I won't shed a tear if Brady's hurt in a game when they're up six freaking touchdowns in the fourth quarter and they're going for it on 4th down.

Go Colts! I hope they massacre the Patriots.

I'm with MM on this. They're all getting paid millions, if you don't like getting killed, then step up and stop them. They're all men out there.

Now college and HS is a different thing. No need for it, just put in the subs and let them play their game. As a side note, I never thought UofH was running up the score when their 2nd and 3rd stringers played the whole second half of games. They practice all the same plays.
