    is Jeff Van GUndy

He has the experience over every western conference coach other then Popovich

He is the only coach that has been in the NBA finals in the west other then Pop, Karl and Adelman.

He is a defensive minded coach which will help us make adjustments against the top offensive teams in a series.

And if its a close game, we do have the best finisher in the west playoffs in T-Mac

    Yeha.."other than Poppovich"

Poppovich is Poppovich with Tim Duncan and company..defending world champs.

    Miami Heat have Shaq.

But yes I think we can beat the Sonics or Grizzlies or Mavericks. WE CAN..don't know if we will..but relaly I've seen Tmac play at his best..and Yao when he plays his best..we can be unstoppable. Our defense is solid and we'lld efinitely be prepared for playoffs..so I can't wait!

And in offseason..we're gonna build and add on and improve. :)

JVG is a master of maximizing talent when it comes to the playoffs.

last year despite a 4-1 series loss the rockets played very competitive against a laker team with 4 future HOFs. I think there was only one game that was totally out of reach by halftime. His teams in NY were always tough in the playoffs and he once took an 8th seed to the finals in 99.

The thing that worries me the most about the rockets defense is their perimeter defense, especially against 3s. When the spurs made their huge run in the fourth qtr sunday there were at least 4 wide open 3pt shots that hurt the rockets badly. And with 3 happy teams like the suns, sonics and dallas in the west this year it may hurt us. But in a 7 game series i believe JVG will take away the 3 ball as much as possible

With only 29 exceptions, Atlanta is the best team in the NBA.

I agree. Last year the Rockets did a surprisingly good job in the playoffs. Although we lost to the Lakers 4-1, but we in fact had a real chance to win two more games. That was against the WCC.

This year, we have much better talent and system going for us. JVG knows how to coach in the playoffs, that's for sure. I remember int he 98 NBA Finals, his team played suffocating defense on the Spurs and it was refreshing to watch. The biggest resistance the Spurs faced wasn't the Lakers with Kobe and Shaq, or the Blazers with Wallace, Sabonis and a very good Grant, it was the Knicks, with guys like Larry Johnson, Allen Houston, Marcus Camby and Latrell Sprewell. That's saying something. Heck, he is the only coach that coached Steve Francis into the playoffs, and that alone is impressive.

Now, he has Yao and Tmac. JVG without a talented group is damaging. JVG with a talented group is scary. Just sit back and enjoy what he can do in the playoffs. You will probably be surprised.

I'm excited to see how he does, too!

I'm also encouraged by the fact that this team really gets up and plays hard for the big games against the big teams. I don't think we'll want for intensity come the postseason.

Exactly what I was thinking. Also, I think it is only 28 exceptions, ATL would be the 29th. :)

I think the Bobcats are better than the Hawks. So that would make them the 30th best.

    oh my God...
    Pistons won last yera lol
    Yeah Lakers beat them. Duh

But uhh I swear I was watching NBA TV..not the channel but some television related to NBA..and they said Spurs are gonig for back-to-back championship this year.

HAHA so they influenced me to believe that Spurs won last season.

Pistons lol still have a chance

Larry Brown is a great coach. I rmeembero n the news he was in a hotel in New York? with Les Alexander had a meeting with him and CD. But yeah we got JVG instead..and I wanted Larry Brown..cuz he coached Iverson..and Francis would have been another guard who could be like a 2 guard..

But anyways I'm glad we got JVG and company :)

Yeah, if JVG doesn't like what he sees, he'll just eat the other players. He's after shoulders now!

JVG has a guy named TMAC this year maybe not enough to beat the spurs but maybe. No one understands what Tmac will do in the playoffs he might avg. 35-40 ppg he turns it up a huge notch.

exactly. t-mac is just the weapon, the ultimate weapon. the thing with mcgrady is that you often get the feeling that he's holding back at times to save energy until he chooses to "impose his will" on the game. often he's only half as unstoppable as he could be. i have a feeling that come playoff time we're going to see an explosion and a stretch of play from tracy that we didn't know was possible. i expect alot of attacking the rim from him.

I think Tmac just showed a glimpse of what we can expect out of him in the playoffs last night against the j*zz...As long as we are healthy and Yao can get his mind in the games(see recent article talking about his mental issues)...we gonna be bookoo scary.

this team is built for the play-offs not the regular season.... i would not be supised if they went to the finals and lost to the Heat...who i think are superior b/c of O'Neil a.k.a "MVP". :D

If we make it to the FInals...even if we lose...I dont think one damn person here should be mad about us losing..

There wasnt one damn person (not even me,and Im the biggest Rockets homer ever) that expected the Rockets to even make it to the WCFs this year.

btw..I firmly believe that if we make it to the FInals (a BIG if)..all bets are off...even with Shaq..making it to the Finals would be such a huge confidence builder that it could very well cause these guys to play better than ever before..

I firmly believe that if JJ's last shot in game 1 falls in, we win game 1, the Lakers selfdestruct & we advance to round 2.

Yao is making the NBA forget him because of his play lately. He's only playing about 26 minutes a game right now and not getting into the act. I can guarantee that will change. He is our secret weapon.
