I was watching NBAtv and of course they were interviewing the star of the night, none other than Aaron Brooks. When Kamla asked Aaron if he wanted to make a quick statement on him being nominated for Most Improved Player, he responded with, "All that is nice, but right now I am going through a tough loss. My little cousin passed away last night and I am just wanting to see my family." (not word for word, but pretty close) I just thought now that I look back at the interview he didn't seem like the old Aaron that I usually see on tv, very energetic and smiling. I hope he and his family can overcome this loss and continue to push forward. I am sure with Brooks performance tonight he must have ddedicated this win to his cousin. I would post the video but is not up yet.
Sad news. Some times these high demanding jobs sucks when you cant take off. I remember when I lost my grandmother, I was on deployment so I couldnt go to the funeral.
It just saddens me to see him nearly tear up in front of the cameras, and my prayers definitely go out to him and his family.
yeah i just saw that too.. very sad stuff... Sorry for your loss AB.. This dude is just so humble and cares about nothing but winning.. If i was DM, i would be thinking that AB is UNTOUCHABLE. This guy is becoming the leader of the team!
No details, he just made quick mention of it during the interview and like someone else mentioned he looked as if he was going to shed some tears. Tried a search but I am pretty sure this will be kept within the family.
I noticed that right when we won the game last night Aaron pointed up to the sky, so I had been wondering why this particular game had any significance to him.
Even with a tragic loss, AB went out there last night and played his heart out. That's what we should expect from a professional. To leave all the problems at the door and focus on what's at hand. He deserves a lot of respect for that. Unlike others. I won't mention any names. Sorry for your tragic loss AB. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
yea i saw game time to, and did anyone see kamlas face when he talked about his cousin? i felt like punching kamla!! wish him the best
It is always tragic when a young person is taken from this world before what we all think should be their time. My condolences to Brooks and his family.
Amen to that. This has been a terrible year for that with all the kids dying from the h1n1 and I know personally how that loss feels. Virtual hugs to AB and his family... and thank you for starting the thread op.
I saw it. Aaron hit the interview crew with some heavy news and Kamla was sympathetic and professional. he wished Aaron the best and offered thoughts and prayers. kamla always does that when a player goes down with an injury or misses a game due to a personal reason like a death in the family.
