getting Turkoglu & Ron Mercer http://espn.go.com/nba/columns/stein_marc/1584734.html Great. Everyone in our division gets better save for Utah, we add Piatkowski. Thanks Les!
the teams that are getting better are the ones we had no chance of catching this year look at the teams more on our level Phoenix Portland haven't done a damn thing rockets weren't getting out of the 1st round next year anyway.
just so people don't have to click on the link Wednesday, July 23 Pacers set to sign Brad Miller, trade him to Kings -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- By Marc Stein ESPN.com Indiana, Sacramento and San Antonio are on the verge of a three-team trade that would send Brad Miller to the Kings, ESPN.com has learned. The deal would foil attempts by Utah and Denver to sign the free-agent center. HERE'S THE DEAL (SO FAR) Kings get: C Brad Miller Pacers get: F/C Scot Pollard Spurs get: G/F Hedo Turkoglu and G Ron Mercer The deal calls for Indiana to sign Miller to a multiyear deal and ship him to the Kings, who consider him the ideal long-term replacement for Vlade Divac, the 35-year-old center entering the final year of his contract. As part of the exchange, Indiana would receive Scot Pollard as a replacement for Miller, after the Pacers determined that they couldn't absorb the luxury-tax implications of meeting Miller's money demands. The trade would also send swingmen Hedo Turkoglu and Ron Mercer to the Spurs as potential replacements for free agent Stephen Jackson. Turkoglu and Mercer are both in the final year of their contracts, preserving San Antonio's salary-cap flexibility for next summer when it must re-sign Manu Ginobili. Jackson is seeking a long-term deal. It's expected that at least one more player will be involved in the deal, likely going to Indiana, to satisfy salary-cap requirements. Oh, we're not gonna beat anyone, we won't get anywhere in the playoffs, so let's field a crap team that's worst than last year's because it's pointless. That is the stupidest argument ever. WTF even play basketball then? You have to take risks to win, you have to make moves to win. Losing KT & Posey to add Piat is not a risk, it's not a "move." It's stupidity. What on earth makes you think we're better than Portland & Phoenix BTW? There wasn;t a shred of evidence last season that we were...
SA has cap space. They don't have to give up anything. Damn, this trade makes it tough for us to contend this year now.
what makes me think that. New Offensive/Defensive system Yao Ming in his 2nd year Portland in limbo, team isn't going to be the same Phoenix remains the same, just as good
If you say we get better because it's Yao's second year, then they get better as well because it's Amare second year.
The difference is that when Yao gets better everybody get better because he is a great passer, Amare isn't. Yao also makes a monsterous difference on the defensive end, something Amare doesn't because he isn't as big or tall as Yao Ming. Yao also commands double and triple teams leaving people open, Amare doesn't. So the better Yao gets the better the Rockets get since he'll make more of an impact.
We may have beaten Phoenix head to head but Phoenix still did better than we did at beating the other couple of dozen+ teams in this league. Do you honestly think Pippen will make that much of a difference? I think their combo of Bonzi/Patterson/Qyntel is adequate in filling that role. And again I ask why you guys think we should be patient b/c "it's not our time." That's inane! Do you think 3-4 years from now all these teams ahead of us will just suddenly suck or stop making moves to get better? Do you think we'll be less cash strapped? What if Ming or Steve have a (God please forbid) bad injury? You play and plan for NBA basketball for today, for this season, for this year - NOT for 2006, 2007, 2008 while you're still in 2003. There are waayyyy to many variables, factors, and pitfalls to "be patient."
But the Suns did get better: they got Zarko Cabarkapa who seems to be doing well in the Summer Leagues. He isn't as raw as Badiane and supposedly should be ready to contribute this year, as well as a strong guard in Leandrinho Barbosa. The Rockets have Nachbar and Badiane, who has been good but admittedly needs a few years to contribute significantly.
That's insane. I guess Cleveland should try to bring in some high-priced vets near the end of their careers in hopes of merely making the playoffs. I guess teams should stop trying to trade for players in the last year of their contracts in hopes of freeing up cap space for the next year. I guess the Rockets should have traded away the Yao Ming pick for a veteran(s) who could have possibly won them a couple more games last year. Thank God you're not a GM.
What do you call Kevin Ollie and Ira Newble? If we trade Yao for Lamar Odom, with me and Steve on the wings...it's over. This overreaction is epic. Has Posey even put his signature on the offer sheet? If Posey was the difference between us making the playoffs or not, we weren't going very far anyway.
its not even known whether barbosa will even come over here for next season, or the season after. hes like 19 years old. carbarkapa---if he is even servicable--- is a 3 and will play behind marion. the same marion who plays 41-42 minutes a game.
