When Dream officially retires in 2001, do any of you capologists have a good idea of our cap room that season (sorry if it was posted earlier)... Anderson and Mobley -- if he signs a one-year deal -- could potentially be FAs also. I just found it interesting that Peter Vecsey reported on NBC Showtime that he felt Tim Duncan was going to sign a one-year deal with the Spurs to get a look at their future. Dreaming I know, but I've heard from a few people that Duncan has interest in Houston but discounts them because of the cap room situation but that it could be interesting if Duncan signs a one-year deal. I didn't think that would be possible.... but now with the first whispers of a possible one-year deal.... ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET [This message has been edited by Clutch (edited March 26, 2000).]
Hey clutch!!! Now, don't start stirring the pot just yet, Duncan is a very smart man and he would likely not want to burn any bridges before he is ready to sign his contract. Who asked Duncan about if he wanted to come to Houston, I think it was a Houston reporter. But its always nice to Dream!!!!!!! Get it, it'd be nice if Duncan can give Dream a breather "nice to Dream, the Dream". Anyways, it'd be cool to get Duncan here!!! ------------------
Now this is a post to continue the original message!!!!!!!1 Regarding the Cap, if Hakeem retires, then that cap room will not be able to be used on another player. Rules of the Game. However if it is decided by doctors that Hakeem should not or cannot continue and is forced to retire because of injury the Rockets can pettition the NBA to gain some access to that cap space. So, there you have it as I understand it!!!!!!!!! ------------------
I think that number is slightly on the high side. 1. Walt has a straight salary across while others have graduated increases. 2. I thought there was an option for SA to cut a better deal next year 3. Don't minimum amounts have to be figured for the three open slots to get to a 12 man roster? Mango ------------------ It could be worse ....... you could have been born a Jazz fan!!!!
Even if SA renegotiates a contract: 1. Renegotiated contracts are capped at a 12.5% increase. 2. There is nothing that says he has to be given a raise before buying Webber or Duncan. 3. Mobley is a none factor as well for reason #2. 4. Note: using our $4.5m exemption effectively increases our salary by that much. So, to keep our salary down to a minimum, we should not spend our $4.5m exemption on anyone with more than 1-year left on their contract, unless they are a star. It is well within our reach to compete for both Webber and Duncan. This is why tanking is not that necessary guys. Route for Sac and SA to go down in 1st round, so Webber and Duncan lose faith in their teams' futures. [This message has been edited by heypartner (edited March 26, 2000).]

According to Davo's estimation's on his page at http://rocketdavo.tripod.com/ The Rocket's should have around 13 mil to play with. mas o menos. ------------------ Not only am I president of the WaltWizFanClub, I'm also the member.
