What's Morey's most important job for this offseason? Please find an upgrade for Luther.... somebody bigger, stronger, and with a more reliable shot. Brandon Rush???? Although I'd prefer a guy with playoff experience. Everybody talks big man in case Yao gets hurt. Yes, that would be a plus but I'm talking winning a championship. Another big guy may not play in the playoffs if Yao is healthy. However.. if Yao isn't healthy for the playoffs then there's No Chance at a championship anyway. We need somebody to give TMac a blow who you trust. It's obvious, from what you saw tonight, that RA didn't trust Luther. Shane isn't getting younger and a big wing would be nice insurance for him, too. As for RA, I hope he severely limits Yao and TMac's minutes next year. Without the transition period, we shouldn't need them to get major minutes early to squeak out wins against bad teams. PS 100% agreed with posters suggesting Battier guard DW, esp in the 4th. One of our strengths is SB taking out the other team's best perimeter option. Why wouldn't you do that to the Jazz? DW's quickness will get by anybody but SB's length causes major problems once he's in the paint and you wouldn't need help allowing DW to hit a wide open cutter to the basket. Plus, SB's length makes it tougher for DW to shoot over.
Luther had his best year last season when all he did was shoot 3s. Apparently, he can't do much more than that. If that's the case, we have Novak. We need a real shooting guard.
joey Dorsey as the backup center. He gives us shot blocking, rebounding, plus a much needed mean streak. He would replace chuck Hayes minutes.
Getting a backup C would allow us to reduce Yaos minutes, which should lessen the probability of injury.
If i was Morey i would try to cut Luther Head and offer the best 1 or 2 year deal i can offer to Ben Gordon to be our sixth man. Ben Gordon is not going to have HUGE offers because the market is full for these next two years with the exceptional free agent class coming this year aand the next and maybe agrees to sign a not so good deal that pay hims good not great but releases him after one or two seasons. About Yao being injuried again is clear to me that he has to be gone if this happens, same with T-Mac but i think Adelman to cut a lot of T-Mac minutes next year, same for Yao. take into account that this year he had to play them a lot because the team was in construction during half of the year and in each of those halves one of them was injured a lot of time.
The magical words. Point Guard. Hahaha. Three years later, being each and every offseason's #1 priority. pg is still the problem.
And it also came to my mind the fact that Kurt Thomas will be FA next year if we can cut also Hayes he will be the one i go for.
How about Landry, Scola, and Chuck not making anything. Or Scola throwing up random sideway shots. Head is dissapearing again, but why replace someone who isn't going to play much behind Tmac anyways? I say focus on getting a shot blocking big-man.
Some people live and die by Sura. Not me, the guy couldn't dribble or get anyone involved, or control the tempo of the game. God we need that toughness though.
The upgrade to Luther Head is named Courtney Lee. I don't know what Morey needs to do to draft him, but he needs to do whatever he can...
A bigger shooting guard. Mike Miller? Some toughness. Ron Artest? A reliable, young backup for Yao. Your guess is as good as mine on this one. Sadly enough, the Rockets could accomplish all 3 of the aforementioned, but it could mean trading away all their expiring contracts along with valuable rotation players like Shane and Aaron Brooks.
