Did anyone catch this... I saw it last night at 10 p.m. GMT on ESPN... Bob Ley discussed this with Jim Brown and Brad Ausmus of the Astros... It relayed old tape and conversations with Nash, Freeman, Toni Smith (Lady BB who turned back on flag)...But also a good debate on what athletes should or shouldn't do in a time of war and how they influence people with their personal views and its impact... Good show, I'd recommend it... I thought Brad did a good job, very politically correct and of course, the master JB did an excellent job... The text isn't out on ESPN yet, but I'll be there soon...
Damn, I wish I can edit... Anyway, Brad talked about the Stros' locker room and that there are all kinds of views about the war, but everyone supported the troops and Bush... He also said that it was an athlete's personal choice to be outspoken or Shut up...Most of the Stros' have chosen to keep their personal opinions to themselves... Except for the Berkman quote on the Dixie Chicks... JB was along the lines of the athlete being more vocal about social issues and about change, rather than the war... He also believed athletes should do this as they are in a position of power, with money and an audience willing to listen... Hope this helps...
