Having the number one pick is great but I'm afraid they'll use it on Yao Ming!! I think he's a worthy player of that pick but I don't think he's worth the risk as far as the Chinese Government goes:

I would honestly like to see us either trade the pick for a combination of picks and a solid young player. Or draft Jay Williams and have him(not Franchise) play shooting guard!! My favorite option would be to make a trade with one of the teams picking two thru four and draft the player who in my opinion will be the best in the draft Caron Butler. I think this kid has so much upside and he plays our position of greatest need!! I think that a trade with Memphis for their pick (Butler) and settling our pick that we owe them would be enough for Yao. I know that some may disagree but hey!! I just don't wanna make a big mistake with the #1 pick and I think that drafting Yao would be too big of a risk!!

I dont no about drafting Jwill to play with Francis thou I think Jwill is going to to good. I like the idea of trading pick up Caron Butler in my opinion he is going to do the best in the NBA right behind Jwill.

I agree with you on trading down to pick Butler. He has proven that he is not afraid to enter the lanes and bang with bigger and taller guys, is able to be productive night in and night out, and can play defense. You practically have another Paul Pierce on your hands. Look what Pierce has down for the celtics. A lot of teams passed on the opportunity to draft Pierce, but opted to draft the likes of Robert Traylor, JWill, and Larry Hughes. I'm not trying to say that they suck or anything remotely close to that because you have to be good to even get a look in playing in the NBA. I just hope that we do not make the same mistake. Besides I'm not totally sold on a 7'5 center that has more of an outside game, when a center is suppose to be able to play down and dirty inside. I know that this kind of prospect does not come along all the time but I just cannot see Ming dominating bigger and stronger centers and power fowards. Sure he towers over a lot of people and has the wing span that is unreal, but what if they box him out, or even push him out of the way. What I do see is just another Shawn Bradley with a better offense, but that is only my opinion.

If the Rockets decide to trade the #1 pick, I would prefer they get young proven talent versus multiple draft picks in the 3 -12 range. I doubt Rudy & CD will pick quality players with those picks. Over the last eight years they have blown just about every pick in my opinion.

Currently with the number 1 they can't totally blow it by taking Ming. If they get just about any other pick we will end up with another one dimensional SG, SF,PF,? that can either shoots 3s or goes one-on-one but doesn't play D or doesn't rebound.

wait...they've blown just about every pick??? come on...really???

    1. Traded for Francis
    2. Traded for Griffin -- outcome unknown
    3. Drafted Mobley in the second round!!!
    4. Can I throw in Sam Cassell??? I think that was 9 years ago.

The Rockets have made their share of blunders...I blame them more for signing long-term deals with guys who don't deserve them (Mooch, Maloney, Cato) than I do for draft picks. But I think they've done a fairly good job of talent evaluation.
