He's waiting for a trade. Vancouver's actively shopping him around.

"Still talk of a Harrington trade - According to the Vancouver Province: Vancouver Grizzlies' power forward Othella Harrington remains in limbo, er, Houston - as uncertain now as he was at the start of the summer about whose uniform he'll be wearing this season. 'Yeah, I've heard [the various rumours], but I've never really got my hopes up,' Harrington said from his off-season home in Texas. 'It's never done until an offer is [accepted] and the other team calls you.' Harrington, while insisting 'I'm going to do my job no matter where I am,' does want out of Vancouver after one unhappy season in which, despite his distaste for the wet coast, he did average 13.1 points and 6.9 rebounds while starting all 82 games. Versace said Wednesday he continues to wait for the right deal, adding that a move before training camp 'looks less and less likely. But it only takes one phone call, one day to spark a swap."

If the Grizz get desperate, could we possibly deal Bryce Drew for him straight up? I know they're loaded at forward with Long, Swift, and Massenburg, so they probably wouldn't want Carlos Rogers. Maybe Drew+2nd rounder would do the trick. I know this move would probably work cap-wise.

Well not that I don't like Harrington, but uhhh, we're pretty loaded ourselves at power forward with Mo Taylor, Kenny Thomas, Jason Collier, and Carlos Rogers...

Where would he get any playing time here that he's not getting in Vancouver?

I like KT better than Othella.

KT plays better D, will rebound better, and is better facing the basket.

Othella is a blackhole on offense who doesn't pass very well or have any range on his shot. He probably isn't going to get any better Not exactly what we want. Thomas serves our purposes better, although he isn't quite as good YET.

Yep Haven, I agree, KT is not as good as OT yet.

    BUT....

KT really impressed me during his rookie year. I think we get spoiled and forget how tough it is for rookies to make an impact. True, KT would have rode the bench if we did not have all those injuries, but when his numbered was called, he responded in a big way.

They both seem equal to me. They both busted their butts for us and did what the team asked them to do. What would be the salary implacations if we got Othella for KT?

umm TB3 edit your post. Othella is worse then KT? Othella's not going to get any better? I think ..we'll i know that Othella spends as much time as anyone after practice in the league and one of the hardest workers there is. K.thomas is not exactly a gifted passer either.

I personally remeber KT having good passing skills for a PF. Its not like he'll be posting up down low very much anyways with Taylor here. He'll run picks for the guards and take the open 15 footer. I do hope KT works on that 15 foot shot. I like Othella but he wouldn't really help with this particular team, except in the rebounding area. Othella doesn't shoot well from the outside and if you look at the big men we have most shoot good from 15 feet(KT, Collier, Taylor and Dream). Not Cato, he though is not that bad either.

KT is WAY better then Othella, and has not even peaked. Othella has.

Wizard: You're quite mistaken, KT is actually a very good passing PF. Othella, on the other hand, simply doesn't pass. We don't need a scoring PF now, we have Taylor (and even if we didn't, Othella wouldn't be that person).

Remember Othella on offense? I remember alot of shots from poor positioning when guys were standing wide open on the 3pt line.

KT also has better footwork, and more potential. He took some ill-advised 3pters last year, but he still has a better shot than Othella, and more potential.

But the bottom line is, KT fits in with the team better. The Rockets need a good passing big man who can get the ball in a high post, take the occasional open shot, and give the ball back to Francis, Mobley, Anderston, etc. That's KT, not OH.

Othella shot at an amazing percentage starting when the rockets had Pippen. If you hit over .500, why pass to someone who hits below 40%?

I didn't see much grizz so didn't see how he did there.

KT is not as good as fella yet, but has potential to surpass him. I would rather have Othella because he is more consistent now, but KT is a keeper.

KT had a good year for a rookie but he was very inconsistent in the hustle category (which is important to be a good defender and rebounder - his most necessary roles in our guard oriented system). In my mind he has not shaken the image he had in college of being undermotivated. He had a knack for not showing up to the big games. We don't want to find out at the wrong time that this is still true. Sign Othella.

No argument about Othella outhustling KT. If KT had his work ethos, he would be the next Barkley.

That being said, I think KT is a better player then Othella, he is a better passer, defender, and has a better outside shot.

The Rocks need someone who can score from 15 feet off of Cat and Franchise's penetration, Othella can not do that KT can.

That is it in a nutshell.

Ya'll are missing the point. If we can get rid of Bryce and pick up Othella in the process, we should jump at the chance. I realize that your main concern is KT losing playing time. I assure you that he'll be part of our main 8-man rotation which includes the five starters, Mobley, and Cato. Langhi and Collier will be spending much of their time on the bench, and learning, especially if we come out hot. Norris will come in only to get Stevie an occasional breather. Bullard will play sporadically, as usual.

We could really use Othella in case of an injury to someone in the front court. It never hurts to add a little depth. Othella could bring alot of energy off the bench, his salary is VERY reasonable, and he can hit the boards.

If all it takes is Bryce Drew and some exception....LET'S DO THIS!!!

hows about drew, mo t, bullard for swift and fella

i doubt it because swift is the only guy in the world who likes vancouver, so they wont let him go [IMG]. but i would make that deal, although it would take away from shandons sf minutes which means taking away from cuttinos sg minutes...who else would pull the trigger on this deal?
