(AP) -- Sacramento Kings center Greg Ostertag will be out four-to-six weeks after breaking his right hand in a fall at his home Saturday night. Ostertag signed with the Kings in July after nine seasons with the Utah Jazz. He is expected to be the backup to All-Star center Brad Miller. The Kings, who have lost key players to significant injuries in each of the last four seasons, also will be without starting guard Doug Christie throughout training camp. Christie is recovering from plantar fasciitis in his left foot. The Kings depart for a preseason trip to China next week
While I am not a big fan of Greg Ostertag, especially while he was with Utah, I must post my regrets that posters make fun ("Osterfat") of a guy who risked his life donating a kidney so that his sister could live. I wish all the NBA players had that much courage and family responsibility.
donating a kidney is a ticket to sainthood? sign me up! wait, what if you run over a kid right after donating it? where do you stand morally? im just playin- my sister's kidneys failed over 15 yrs ago due to lupus and she ended up getting a transplant from my other sister. i make fun of them all the time!!!
I didn't mean to sound overly sanctimonious, but I would rather cheer for a guy who risked his career (if not life) for his sister over one whose major concern is his next tat. People like Ostertag and your sister deserve an extra portion of respect and a longer hug at family gatherings. But that's just me. My father refused to allow me donate a kidney to him. I confess I was somewhat relieved over his decision at the time. Fortunately, my father lived another 33 years on the kidney the doctors said would fail.
Ostertag has a career?? Just kidding--I truly do respect his decision and the decision of all who would do such noble, selfless things for no reason other than the well-being of others but ON the court, Jazz or ex-Jazz, they get no love!
