SLAM: Can you name some guys from today that you enjoy watching?

Big O: Oh, there are a lot of guys I like to watch play. I still like to see Kobe. LeBron, Wade, Duncan, I like that backcourt Detroit has. There are a lot of players I like. Then there’s some I’d like to see play smarter. There’s too much one-on-one play, where guys just come down and shoot like it’s a playground game. You know who does that? I hope it works out for him, because he promised Houston would get out of the first round. I’m talking about Tracy McGrady. He just shoots the ball from anywhere. If he’s making them, that’s fine, but he ain’t gonna’ make them forever.

Wow. TMac is much more of a playmaker on offense than Kobe is. (Though Kobe is a more dominant scorer)

Wth? Last night, Kobe would just get the ball at the top of the key, hold the ball for a couple seconds, then shoot with Bell in his face, but he calls out Tmac? Granted, that 1-9 from 3 point range isnt helping his case, but there is no way Tmac jacks up more bad shots then Kobe.

Look, I love T-Mac and would rather have him on this team than Kobe, but for anyone to say that he was taking good shots in most of Game 2 -v- Utah needs to take the blinders off. We're lucky that our D is so strong an the Jazz have been shooting exceptionally poor, or T-Mac's jacking up from all angles, off balance, with total randomness, would have seriously hurt us in game two. T-Mac needs to drive to the rack a lot more often than he's been doing so far. The style of play he's been going with so far in this series will not get us past Dallas (assuming we win the series).

Yup, his shots are stupid. Yeah when they go in its awesome. But I would rather have him hit a few good midrange shots or drive it in then that crap.

i agree, tmac took some horrible shots in that game 2.

but to say he likes kobe and criticize tmac? if anything, kobe's 4th quarter in game 1 was an exhibition of playground basketball where he disregarded evyerone else on the floor.

i guess oscar's just mad tracy is just that talented if u read the follow up

SLAM: I hear you. But it’s weird with him, because at his height and with his athleticism, he really can get a shot off pretty much whenever he wants.

Big O: But you’re not going to make all those shots, especially from way outside.

no one is as physically talented as tracy. :D

Big O: But you’re not going to make all those shots, especially from way outside.

    agree,

he was taking many bad shots. I wanted to open up a thread about it. I was really mad at that, but had to let it go since we are in playoffs and theres no need for such a thread...

I agree with what the O said, but Kobe!!!??? That's hypocrisy if you ask me. Did he not watch Kobe the past week. He threw the game away. At least T-Mac would see if his teammates could make a basket before firing away.

it's a good criticism in fact. but that was one of the few games where i dont know why he jacked up so many damn 3s, esp. to end the first half. very weird. it's like he was saying to himself, "DAMN I GOTTA MAKE ONE RIGHT?"

but he's not a bad shot-taker by any means, game 2 was just one of those stupid nights for tmac.

This reminds me when they interviewed him at ESPN and he didn't even know the names of the Mavs' point guards. To me it was obvious he didn't keep up with the nba like we do.

that just shows tmac is his favorite and he does observe his game together with its weakness.. i think we are all in agreement that tmac should minimize taking thos long balls especially during the early part of the shot clock

again it doesnt have to be a choice between and laypu/dunk or 3ptr/long jump shot.. he should try making close/mid range shots.. at least it give our bigs the best opportunity to rebound incase it misses..

yea, he has a lot of pressure on his back, like Barkley said, the whole ZOO! personally I don't think Mac has a lot of confidence in his shot, especially after the back problems, it hurt him a lot mentally...

I have seen plenty of Kobe and some TMAC play. I am no expert on basketball, but I just feel two plays are not comparable. From kobe, you rarely saw an unjustified shot, you can understand what he want to do, why he do it, kobe put game results above his show-off. However many TMAC's shot at the end of game just put you away. Tmac is still hungry for personal glorification.
