Argh. Two huge snubs, IMO. Hugh Grant and About Schmidt. Of course, I'd have loved to see About a Boy nominated, but wasn't expecting it. I'm really starting to believe that The Hours might be the most overrated movie in a long time.
Very uninspirational list. Too much stuff that pisses me off to go into now. Chicago? Jeez...it was good and all but come on!
My predictions: BEST PICTURE Chicago ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE Jack Nicholson - About Schmidt ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE Chris Cooper - Adaptation ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE Renée Zellweger - Chicago (<I>woohoo, Katy girl!!!</i>) ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE Julianne Moore - The Hours ANIMATED FEATURE FILM Lilo & Stitch ART DIRECTION The Two Towers CINEMATOGRAPHY Chicago COSTUME DESIGN Chicago DIRECTING Chicago DOCUMENTARY FEATURE Bowling for Columbine DOCUMENTARY SHORT SUBJECT Mighty Times: The Legacy of Rosa Parks (<I>I have no clue</I>) FILM EDITING The Two Towers FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM Hero (<I>Where is Y Tu Mama Tambien or Talk to Her?</I> MAKEUP Frida MUSIC (SCORE) The Hours MUSIC (SONG) Chicago SHORT FILM (ANIMATED) The Chubbchubbs! You're too nice. The Hours (or The Two Hours Of My Life I Want Back, as I like to call it) has no business being nominated for anything!!! ...except possibly Nicole Kidman. I just don't see how they can nominate the director of this movie over a guy who has created one of the most ambitious movies of all time. Anyways...my predictions and worthless opinions. Best Picture What will win: Chicago What should win: Two Towers or Pianist What was snubbed: About Schmidt ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE Who will win: Jack Who should win: Jack ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE Will and should win: Chris Cooper ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE Will and should win: Renée Zellweger ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE Will and should win: Catherine Zeta-Jones CINEMATOGRAPHY Confessions of a Dangerous Mind should win if it had been nominated DIRECTING Will win: Chicago Should win: Pianist Should have won if nominated: Peter Jackson WRITING (ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY) Should win: Far From Heaven WRITING (ADAPTED SCREENPLAY) Should win: Adaptation (just because there has to be some irony in there somewhere)
Chicago will clean up. I hope Adrien Brody wins Best Actor for "The Pianist". That was an awesome film, and he was fantastic.
looks like they split up zelwegger and CZJ in to lead and supporting so they gave give them both one. hollywood bull****.
I'm just glad that My Big Fat Greek Wedding didn't get the multiple nominations many were predicting.
maybe....but the golden globes didn't think it was all that clear apparently.....i guess the powers that be of the academy awards took note of the look of disgust on CZJ's grill when she didn't win, and i guess they don't want the poor little princess to get her feelings hurt again.
That doesn't make any sense since she won't be the favorite to win it. Sounds like you've got something against her anyway.
