This has to be one of the worst trades for Orlando. Trading Cuttino who is a great all-around player for Doug Christie, who is a overrated defender and not very good on the offensive side.

Poor Steve. Loses his pal, then gets snubbed for the All Star game.
They are just 2 games over .500 and they just lost to the WARRIORS!!

Plus I feel for Steve, he has no one to hang out with. Dwight Howard is too Biblebelt and not old enough to drink. Grant Hill cant do anything cause he's married and has a good image. Doug Christie, he's WHIPPED, and cant chew gum without his wife looking at him.

The basketball gods are cruel to Steve!

At least Steve is not a baby like Rafer "Skip to my Lou" Alston.
Did you see he left the arena after he got benched?

Man, what a baby. Mo Taylor and Juwan get benched several times. Nothing like that ever happens in Houston.

    Oh I forgot about that!

    Episode 10:
Steve and Doug hanging out in a restaurant:
Steve: " I told you this fried chicken is great here, you need to order some"
Doug: "You are right Steve!, Waitress"
Waitress: "How can I help you?"
    Doug: " Can I have..."

Mrs Christie pops out of nowhere , body slamming the waitress.

DONT TALK TO MY DOUG CHRISTIE LIKE THAT!! GET AWAY FROM HIM!!

Mrs Christie: "You leave now Doug!"

Steve later on his cell phone: "Hey Cuttino, Doug's wife is a pyscho path!"

Orlando made a HUGE mistake by trading Cat for Christie. I don't understand their reasoning, if their afraid Cat will walk, let him walk, don't trade him for a 35 year old who is due 9M.

The Magic are 7-9 since the trade.

The Kings are 11-4 since the trade.

Too early to tell of course, but Weisbrod possibly rolled the dice one too many times. He made trades that "seemed" to be winners for the other team at first, but he did it with the mindset of getting hard-nosed, tougher players. McGrady for Francis-Mobley-Cato paid dividends... as did Gooden for Battie (sort of). We'll have to see on Christie-Mobley, but Doug is shooting terribly in Orlando.

out of those 3 trades, the only one i would say worked out short term was the tmac trade and only because we necessarily gave up more actual talent to get the superstar in the trade.

trading gooden may have been necessary with PF's being the top 2 draft prospects but i wouldn't say it's necessarily helped them that it was battie. if it was an increase in toughness it was an even bigger decrease in talent as battie doesn't really do anything on offense and mostly just fouls guys who drive to the basket. blocks, stopping them? no, just fouls.

and mobley for christie was an obvious talent downgrade that wasn't even a huge improvement in christie's best aspect, defense. on top of paying christie so much the next year i can't even see the salary cap implications. there had to be other people to get for your best perimeter threat on a team with only one other 3 point shooter. the team has no defensive mindset so adding a valuable defender wasn't gonna do much anyway. big downgrade.

so one good trade that he's mitigated with one trade and solidly hurt with another. talent for toughness works on some level but not when you're still in the process of acquiring talent. championship contenders can do that type of stuff. possible homecourt in the east teams shouldn't lower their talent level for no reason.

PPG against Orlando has not necessarily decreased since the trade (100.5 ppg allowed now) - before it was about 101 ppg. But they are scoring fewer points per game since Mobes was traded (100ppg). Their fans were really (optimistically) expecting at least a 4-6 points per game shave off the points per game allowed. They probably overestimated Doug's defense - one player cannot save that team defensively. Worst, they owe him $8.2 next season.

Maybe the Magic can hire Mrs Christie to come to team meetings and whip up on the players - she can be the den mother and make sure they are all home and in bed by 7pm on non-playing nights. Might help take a little pressure off of Doug if she spreads her a$$-whipping abilities around a bit.

Was listening to 610 yesterday late afternoon in between two stops yesterday and they were not very kind in their jokes about the closeness of the SF-Mobley relationship. Borderline uh inferences with talk about a love boat cruise during the all-star break....

But maybe I misunderstood. Jokes can be that way sometimes. Or maybe they were just being way cruel.

Orlando is just laying in the weeds at the 6th spot. They really want to play the 3rd seed out east. They are currently .5 games ahead of the 7th spot. Look for them to win their next few games to give them a cushion on 6th spot.

    J/k :)

Yes Orlando does suck. They score but man...where is the Defense? I guess there goes my dream of a Houston-Orlando Finals

But I am really glad Mobley is doing well in Sac., he lived in Steve's shadow for too long. It is good he is getting the recognition he deserves. I really liked him and was sad to see him go.

"I'm tired of doing this by myself. I'm the only one who's mad out there. We've got to have other guys step up and be physical. Take fouls if you have to, but don't let guys just put up their hands by their head, just lay the ball up, just shoot, just do whatever they want to.'' - Steve Francis after loss to GS, doesn't look too good
