Why does William Davidson get so much credit? Are these people adding his Tampa Bay hockey team success and his generousity in letting Timmy use his private jet? I like the man but he has only won 3 championships and his GM backstabbed and fired a loyal 50-win coach in Rick Carlisle......yeah his replacement won a championship for him but Larry Brown is not necessarily a "good person" or a good "character".

    End of rant.

Go to google and do a search on Lew Alcindor. The name that pops up should ring a few bells. :)

Lew Alcindor was his name before he converted to Islam, when he changed his name to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the greatest big man ever IMO.

Haha when i read that I was thinking didnt Bucks get Kareem around that time too. And I thought Kareem was the all time leading scorer. Damn this article for making me question my basketball knowledge.

Lew Alcindor was perhaps the greatest College basketball player ever, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was argubly the greatest NBA player of all time. Coincidently, both characters are the same person;)

He passed the torch to Shinn a while back. The gap's getting bigger each season.

Sterling may be notorious for wanting a profitable team over a winning one, but Shinn may have pulled the greatest knife job on a city (Charlotte) this side of Bud Adams. Shinn took one of the most successful young franchise teams (on the court and in its fan support at the Hive), and absolutely skewered it. He wouldn't pay to keep franchise players, he nailed the city with a scandel of his own making, refused to sell a minority share to a very interested Jordan despite public excitement over the prospect, and then proceeded to blackmail the city into paying for a new arena.

It's bad when a city calls the league and says they'll foot the bill on the condition that the owner is removed. It's damning that Charlotte was almost immediately given a new team. Stern knew who was right, but he couldn't set a precedent by expelling an owner under those circumstances.

Now? New Orleans, like it did with the Jazz, has proven unfit for hosting an NBA team. They're fudging attendance figures, they're sinking into debt, and are losing sponsers faster than they sign them.

So hate on Sterling, he's earned it, but remember that he let Mo Taylors and Derek Andersons get away, not Alonzo Mournings.

Evan, you nailed it! As much as people bust on the Clippers, the Hornets have been worse! And I'll tell ya, they have all that cap money to spend this summer and I bet they dont use it. Maybe sign one player worth 7-8M per and that's it. But I dont expect them to sign any Max guys. They are looking more and more like the Clippers every day. But the Clippers actually have talent on their roster. And laugh at Sterling all you want, but Evan is right, Sterling passed on Taylor, Anderson, Kandi, let them walk and then locked up quality players in Brand and Maggette.

Yea, Abdul Jabbar was my favourite player in the old Lakers Vs Celtics game hehe.

He'd just score at will. Hookshots go in 90% of the times and he has an array of moves. He can even do 360 dunks from the freethrow line!!

I liked Michael Cooper & Worthy on that team too.
