My live in GF makes me buy organic milk, which I don't like to do because it's more expensive. Well, Walgreens has milk on sale right now for $1.99/Gal and Organic at HEB is $4.99. We drink alot of milk in our house, so this is fairly significant. I don't know much about what's better in organic milk that could justify being 150% more expensive. But she insists that it is important to have organic milk for her son who is eight. My argument is that we can't control everything and that controlling this one thing won't make that big of a difference. To me it's like pouring a bottle of Evian in the toilet.
Organic is not just better tasting, it is nearly 1000 times better for you - particularly brands like Horizon - because they don't use hormone-injected cattle and don't use chemicals in the process to get the milk ready for the shelves.
... and it lasts longer. We go organic. The kids drink a lot of it, and I don't trust that enough research has been done on the longterm effect (on children) for all of the hormones, antibiotics and pesticides that are fed to the cows. Some reports claim organic milk is more nutritious (because of a different diet) including more fatty acids (which are essential for brain development and could impact intelligence longterm). We generally do not buy organic meat because we just don't consume nearly as much. Some more stuff: http://organicstyle.com/feature/0,8028,s1-41-30-32-344,00.html
Organic all the way. I've posted this before, so here is all you need to see: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=hormone+cows+pus+milk&btnG=Google+Search
Okay, Okay. I'll stop getting regular milk. I'll have to quit drinking it myself because it's so expensive. I love milk though, so I doubt I'll really stop.
If you like non-organic milk, don't ever watch the Canadian documentary called "The Corporation". I didn't eat meat for a week after watching that film, and I don't know when the next I'll be able to eat cold cereal again.
Organic milk tastes a whole lot better. It almost tastes like cream it is so damn good. The Horizon 2% is what we usually get.
No doubt. I was converted to organic milk after I saw that this summer. Funny that I haven't seen it on DVD. Many girls in this country are now menstrating as early as 8 years old and it's believed to be from the hormones in the milk. Yikes. On the same subject, what does everyone think of organic meat? I think it has a much better taste.
Milk comes from the modified sweat gland of a bovine beast. If that doesn't bother you why would care about a few scientifically engineered hormones?
I always used to say you're drinking the breast milk of a 4-legged animal, but yeah... I agree with you.
WOW! I had no idea! I have been addicted to Kroger's brand chocolate milk since I was in middle school. To this day I drink a big glass of the stuff as my breakfast. I think, the first thing I do when I get home today, is chunk what I have of it and never go back to milk again. Plus, it is nice to know about this with my 10-month old son. Does this stuff effect the formula he drinks as well?
You want see people cringe.... just suggest that they take a sippy out baby's botty. Yet they love t***. But they drink gallons of cow milk and would never pay for a lap dance from a cow.
Organic... I wouldn't give my kids rBGH or rBST - click here for more info on organics. Besides, milk is for cows.
So, do I have to go to specialty stores to get all this "organic" stuff or do they have them at my local Kroger and I've just missed them?
