From what I saw...the A1 arrangement was the best at keeping the rivalries alive and accomplishing the realignment too.

    looks pretty good to me.

Baltimore got an easy division, but oh well.

SO the playoffs will now be division winners and 1 wildcard for each conference?

This plan blows big time. Indy, Jax, and Ten mean nothing to me. I'd much rather be with Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Cincy. I hate those teams!

Tennessee represents a sure-fire rivalry, at least until Bud kicks the bucket. Gonna be a tough division to compete in for awhile, but then again the team will suck for the 1st few seasons anyway.

Yeah sure Timing , you would love to play in that division . The AFC North will be the joke of football in 2002 . The Seahawks moving doesnt bother me , Tampa Bay does a little bit . Now we will only know what teams are for real when then get to the Playoffs .

This was the only way to handle it because Baltimore couldn't end up in the south and it made no sense to put Houston with teams that are all up north.

It was the best solution to an awkward problem.

Kind of interesting that nobody bothered to listen to Bud, Bob or Art (or Al Lerner or Mike Brown for that matter) when making the decision that affected those teams. Even with the Ravens, Titans and Texans not having a vote, I expected that the owners would pay attention to their wishes since making them happy (as well as Lerner and Brown) didn't require making changes to anyone else's division.

I figured that, in the end, we'd get A1 with the Ravens and Titans switching places (leaving Houston in the South, but making Baltimore the 4th team rather than Tennessee).

I guess Tags made his case in a convincing manner, though, as even the owners who had votes and had publically said they didn't like some parts of Option A1 ended up voting for it. Either that or the owners were so happy about Al Davis losing his stupid lawsuit on Monday that they voted yes on everything that was put in front of them.

Oh well, it doesn't make that much difference to me. The idea that being in with Jacksonville and Tennessee is bad because those teams have been good recently is not really a reason at all. As quickly as teams rise and fall in the NFL of today, Jax and Tennessee (and possibly Indy) could be down in two or three years and Cleveland, Cincy and Pittsburgh could be powerhouses.

I think they could have made it more regional. Indy in the south makes no sense to me. I'm not into rivalries as much as some, so I would have liked to have seen Dallas in a new division also. Texans division does look pretty tough though.

BTW, why did McNair insist on being in the afc ? I know that if LA would have gotten the expansion team, they would have been in the nfc.

The Texans are going to stink for a while so it doesn't really matter what division we're in from a competitive standpoint like MrPaige said. My thing is that when you've grown up hating the Stealers, Bungals, and Brownies, it's hard to get revved up over teams that you have no history with. Even if the Texans are technically a new franchise we're still the same old fans.
