As some of you may know, there is a group that call themselves "anonymous" and go around attacking things that they feel don't contribute to the free flow of information (at least that's my nutshell understanding).

Their latest "call to arms" is against the Chamber of Commerce. In order to protest their anger and disagreement with the newly proposed "Protect IP Act" which will aim to eliminate and restrict US internet search engines etc from displaying any illegal/counterfeit sites/things, they are launching a DDOS attack similar to the ones in the past they've launched.

Here's more on the Protect IP bill:

There's an image that was uploaded to reddit but was removed rather quickly, apparently it's against their rules. It basically states the intent, the place where to discuss the act on the internet (IRC channels), the programs people should download to help in the attack, the aim of the attack and a heapload of illegalness. I won't post it for fear of bannage.

Thoughts? I personally am glad that someone is doing something to keep the internet a free place, I like it that way. I don't know if DDOSing the Chamber of Commerce site will make a damn difference, but who knows.

    EDIT:

Apparently this might've been a false flag. Move along. Nothing to see here.
